It took place during the time of Prophet Isa. There
was an obedient and pious man who has devoted his
life by worshiping God for 40 years. He carried out
good deeds and shunned evils for such a length of
time. This servant of God is reckoned as a saint of
God due to hisdevoted act of worship and piousness. At
the same time, there was a disobedient servant of God
who had been spending his life by committing sins for
40 years. He's well known as a theft by the people of
his time. These two servants of God differed
completely in term of their piousness and
wickedness.
One day the theft and the saint of God coincidently
attended an assembly held by Prophet Isa. The
assembly's also attended by a party of saints of God
or pious believers. The theft joined the assembly with
the feeling of shameful because he realized that he
was a theft and very sinful. He felt that he's alone
not qualified to join the assembly, but he intended to
secure the bless, forgiveness and mercy of God because
the assembly consisted of pious servants of God. There
was a saint of God, as well as the revered Prophet of
God. At least he would share the God's mercy
by
getting together with them. He was aware with his evil
character. Unfortunately the saint of God attended the
assembly with the feeling of egotism. He felt that
he's very qualified to be in the congregation because
he himself raised the rank of a saint of God, closely
to the position of the prophet Isa. He was not pleased
with the presence of the theft, feared of the sins
committed by the theft might incur the wrath of God
and the mishap of God will be befallen upon them. His
heart cursed the theft." How could this vile theft
join this very sacred party?" Suddenly the Prophet
Isa
turned his face towards them and said " I've just
received a revelation from God about both of you. Your
both deeds/action for the past 40 years have been
cancelled / abolished by Him. Starting from today, you
have to begin again". The news truly shocked / stunned
both of them. The theft was very lucky because his
whole sins of stealing for the past 40 years were
forgiven by God. While the saint of God was very
unfortunate for his acts of worship performed for the
past 40 years were rejected byy God. Both of them is
now the same in the weight of their deeds and reward.
Why did God abolish the both deeds? Due to the
presence of
the feelings of subservience, humility and
sinful in the heart of the theft that lead the mercy
of God. The thievery committed had instilled the
subservient feeling deep in his heart because he in
fact did not like stealing. He tried to discontinue /
quit the evil deed but faied. Everynight before
sleeping he would cry pondering his coming fate in the
Hereafter. He was regret, remorse and repented to God
and determined / resolved not to repeat the evil again
on the following day. But the determination did not
last long. He succumbed to his evil lust at last,
however his heart remained blaming and cursing
himself. He reckoned
himself as the dweller of the
Hellfire and deserved not the paradise although he
hoped to be placed in the paradise. God loves those
who preserve these types of feelings even though they
sinned a lot. God would erase their committed sins out
of His mercy, which is vast and boundless. He was
saved by the sin because he wore the attribute of a
slave/servant of God. Whereas the saint of God had
inculcated the feeling of pride and arrogance from the
worship he had been performing. He no longer felt
sinful and humble. He felt that he was very noble and
dignified man. He was very sure that the worship would
be accepted by God and he
would enter the paradise.
His egoistic attribute incurred the wrath of God
because he wore the attribute of God; egotism. His act
of worship did not fix up his heart and soul, while he
supposed to grow more humble and humility. The more he
carried out the act of worship to God, the more
feelings of subservience and humility he would
possess. He was perished by the numerous worships he
performed.
Lessons derived from the story:
1. God wants us to preserve the feeling of sinful even
though we did not commit sins, more so if we
committed
it.
2. The worship, which is performed with the intention
ONLY to obtain the reward, will not give positive
effect to our heart and soul, as well as our
characters.
3. The purpose of performing worship is to develop the
feelings of subservience and humility to God. Without
the presence of these feelings, the worship is
meaningless.
4. Some people are perished with the sins committed,
if he didn't repent to the end. Some people are
saved
with the sins, if he repented.
5. Some people are perished with the worship
performed, when he's proud with the numerous worships
performed. Some people are safe with the worship
performed, if he only felt that the worship's imperfect
I am intrigued and would also like to know the origins of those two stories. Please forgive me, but to me they seem a kind of mixture between Christianity and Islam.

I believe some non believers are not pleased with the teaching of Islam and trying to put doubt on some sources in order we are fighting between each other. So please ignore them so that their efforts are fruitless.
Brother no offense but I am not a kid. It really does sound like this may have Christian origins. And Eric is one of the most reasonable people on this forum so I would at least consider what he is saying. I know that there are stories like these in Islam but I am not sure if these are the exact ones. Can you provide the sources for those stories?
Peace.
Mashallah it was quite a good story with gud theme .....and um i don't think .... that its a mixture between islam and christainity unless a christian himself thinks like that ........ ....a non believer is sumthing else.... this story concerns with a person who is an islamic believer ....and a non believer ... he can belong to no religion as well ... and secondly as the christians believe themseves that jesus is the father of God ...... so God Has the powers....
i hope i not wrong ...
Jazakullah
um............sry there is a mistake in my post .... PLEASE forgive ........ i MEant to say
