In 1969 the Frenchman George Perec wrote a full length detective novel, La Disparition, in which the letter 'e' does not appear at all. It has been translated into English by Gilbert Adair. The obvious translation for the title would be 'The Disappearance', but since that contains three 'e's Adair chose to call it A Void.
