kelloggs cereals and lyons biscuits have halaal smbol on them. (i don't no if u've noticed).
if u people ring em up and tell em what a good thing it is that they've done and buy their biscuites and cereals then other companies will see and hopefully they will start using halaal symbol aswell, and that will benefit us.
That's true. We should still check the ingredients just in case. Anybody could stick a halal logo on their product, even if it's a tray of pork chops.
I highly doubt that, seeing that all products you find on the shelf of your local supermarket are regulated by the foods regulating body and any company found to be misleading its consumers can have extremely harsh penalties levved on them, not something i think anyone would desire.
About the halal symbol, i can't say i have noticed. I shall make a point of checking next time i'm out shopping, InshaAllah. Personally, i think this is a move long overdue. It is so cool shopping and eating out in South Africa as all the halal products carry with them a symbol proclaiming it is fit for Muslim consumption, so it saves time having to read through all the ingredients.

Ma'assalama
True. Almost all things on SA shelves have the halaal label on them but I dot think all of them are halaal.
I trust the scholars, I dont trust the producers. There are not many muslims in South Africa are there?
There is a huge population of Muslims in South Africa. The symbols on the products in South Africa proclaim that they have been approved by the Muslim Council (or whatever that body is called). Producers wouldn't classify their food as Halal without Muslims checking over the ingredients and saying it was Halal.
Yup strider aggree with you sister!...i mean leave what is doubtful to you InshAllah WalaykumAsalaam x

With all due respect, i really do think that statement is jumping the gun, alittle. Producers can't simply slap on label saying it is Halal.
