I've gone full circle after many yrears of driving I finaly had to reach the point I can no longer drive so now I'm faced to re-learning how to be a passenger in a car. Believe it or not, after time you will gain very much driving confidence and learn that as long as your vehicle is mechanicaly sound and you follow all the rules of driving, it is quite safe and you will have the skills to be a good driver. If you ever get a chance to take a defensive driving course, I would suggest it. Learning how to anticipate and prevent avoidable accidents is a great confidence builder. Virtualy all driving accidents are avoidable and if you just practice all the safety rules, there is nothing to worry about.
I am new user to drivers, I'd have to say I am way over what a newbie suppose to be at driving, lol. I drive manual cars currently , easy to control and love it, but I am going to learn auto cars before I do my G1 license then G2 and finally G license . Majority drivers drive auto in North America, but I just want to drive manual, cheaper, and less insurance payment. Sister, you should pray before you get behind the wheels, and you will notice how you are no longer fear of driving. Just read a dua inside your mind, do the best you can, and let Allah take care of the rest.

Tips to lose nervousness when Driving:
A bit controversial, but, drive really fast (in empty traffic), and drive often, with an adult, of course. Oh, praying helps too.

I live in the US, and every state in the US has the rule set to 16 for license, 15 for permit. I didn't know New York had that rule. All I know is that in some Southern states, the license is set to 15 and six months of age. I also know that in Europe, you've got to be around 17 or 18 to get a driver's license.
You've got one more year to get your skill up. If I pass, I can give more tips. Good luck on the Permit, I failed the first time because I was nervous and started pressing the wrong buttons on the computer when I started to shake.........oh, so much pressure!!!:grumbling

The "greater" Midwest. The entire Midwest has a rule of thumb, if the kid can carry a stack of wood, he can drive, or shoot, depending on the state you're from.
