As evidenced by my ID on the forum, my name is Lauren and I am currently enrolled in three classes related to Islam at my college. In one of these classes, it is required for me to interview someone of the Muslim faith regarding various issues; nothing offensive or too out there, of course. Just general questions about your faith and culture.

I would really appreciate it if someone would be willing to help me out. I'm very curious about your culture, hence why I chose to study it (: I think it would be extremely worthwhile to have the perspective of an actual person who participates in the religion in addition to what I learn through my class.

It would be a great help if you have lived in the Middle East before and have since moved to America (another country would work as well, but it would be easier to compare our cultures if you lived here).

Thank you so much! I hope to hear from some of you soon.

I am not living in USA, so cannot meet you.Just want to say something to you regarding your quote, what i understand from your quote, sorry if i misunderstand your quote.

"I'm very curious about your culture (means islamic culture)"

my brother islam is not limited for to some area only and one cannot say middle east culture is only islamic culture, we can say that there is no particular islamic culture ,you are permitted to follow any culture as long as it is permitted in islam or not forbiddent (dis-allowed).

If no one here meets your criteria, I can get you in touch with my husband. He's originally from Egypt and has lived in the US for 3 years.

Myself, I'm a convert of several years, so if you need to interview an american who's become a muslim, I'd be more than happy to help :D

Heya Lauren! Welcome to the forums.:)

I have lived all over the middle east and in north america (canada).. We've got quite a few members on here from canada & the states as well, so hopefully you'll get some help.

Do you have any specific questions you want to ask?

I agree brother, I am a Muslim but am not culturally or ethnically an Arab. Islam is not like Judaism, it is universal yet it is the religion of Fitrah (nature). I am a Malay and my country is Malaysia, yet I never eat bread like Arab or people in Middle East eat. I eat rice and I wear our traditional dress called "Baju Melayu and Palekat" when we go to mosque not white or black robe. As long as our point of culture do not contradict the teaching, it is ok to be practised. Islam never ban good cultures, but it only prohibits bad cultures and customs

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I would really like the person to be FROM an Arabic country.

Here is a list of interview questions;
It would be great if they were all answered, but feel free to skip some if you don't want or can not answer them.

What country were you born in?

What country do you live in now?

What are some of the reasons you and/or your family left?

What is the best memory you have of your childhood?

What is the worst memory?

Was your family poor, rich, or in the middle?

Did your level of wealth affect your social standing?

What language was most commonly spoken?

What did men wear? What about women?

Was Islam common in your area?

What sort of government did you live under?

Did you attend school? What was it like?

What sort of climate did you live in?

What sort of things did you do for fun?

That should be good for now. I apologize if some of them are confusing. Feel free to ask me. I'll probably have more questions after someone responds, but they'll most likely be a little more specific. Thank you so much.

Yup, I fit that criterion too. I'll PM you my reply. Technically though, this is more just about culture than it is about islam. You can reply to my PM here if you like, because I don't think members with less than 50 posts can reply to PM's.:)

Crayon,
The forum rules won't let me PM you back, so I would really appreciate if you could send me some contact information. I would love to get your feedback on some more questions that are more specific (and a little more related to Islam) (:

I have AIM, MSN, and email. If you're willing to help me out, just PM me the information.
Thanks so much!
