^ Yup, Handhalah radiyallahu ta'ala anh, was given the name Ghaseelul Malaa'ikah.

When the call to the Battle of Uhud was announced and the army was beginning to leave, he was having relations with his wife. In this state he heard the call for war, and heard the army leaving for the battlefield. He left everything at that moment and joined the army. He did not have a chance to do ghusl. He was martyred in the battlefield and because a shaheed is not given a gusl, he too was not given.

The Messenger of Allah salallahu 'alayhi wasallam saw the angels bathing him. He made inquiries and, on returning to Madinah, was informed by his wife of his condition, and thus he was given the name Ghaseelul Malaa'ikah.

SubhanAllah, I knew this story but didn't remember the name of the Sahabi. I tried relating the letters "Gh", "S" and "L." As they form the word "Ghusl" and so I thought "Ghaseel" must have had something to do with purifying one's self because of the same 3 letters.
I had read this in a book called "Islam and Love" by and 'Abdullah Nasih 'Ulwan and here's the excerpt from that book:

Hanzalah ibn `Abi Amer, who married Jamilah bint Ubaiy, was called in the way of Allah in the battle of Uhud. He went immediately, taking his weapon with him, and left his wife on the second day after his marriage. He fought against Abu Sufyan face to face. He was about to kill him. Abu Sufyan asked the Quraish's help, who attacked Hanzalah and killed him. The Prophet :saws: said that he found Hanzalah washed by the angels between the earth and the heavens, in a silver bowl with water of muzn. Upon hearing this, the companions hurried to look at Hanzalah. They found his body flowing with water instead of blood. They asked his wife: "What was he doing when he left to fight?" She replied, "He went out to the battle when he was ritually impure."
