How do you get rid of scaly skin?

aslaam alaykum, my mum has really bad scaly skin on her forehead and it won't go, she suffers from exzema and is itchy alot but the weird thing is when you touch her forehead the skin doesn't feel dry at all, it's all soft and supple. so it doesn't feel like exzema on her forehead, and it never itches, in other places where she has exzema the skin is all dry and she all ways scratches but her forehead is fine it just looks scaly and unsightly.

so I can't understand why it's scaly when it's not even dry, I told her it's not exzema on her forehead cos exzema causes dry itchy skin and her forehead isn't dry at all.

I told her to go doctor she said he'd just give her steroid creams and they don't work.

hmm I was thinking of asking the doctor to refer her to a skin specialist or something cos it's strange.
 
i was going to say amla oil but i think the sisters here should give you ample advice regarding skin care inshaAllah
 
Did she ever try natural clay soap... i heard is good for eczema.

And also try to take evening primrose oil as supplements. I did and Alhamdulillah it worked for me... but i still tend to have dry hand and dry feet.

but would it get rid of scaly skin, it's not dry at all just scaly :hmm:

Has your mum tried steroid creams? If it does not work, G.P has to give her something else. Tell her to ask for E45 shampoo. I don't know if they give E45 on prescription but please ask for advise from your local pharmacist or G.P before use.

lol I think surgery is the only way she can get rid of the scales :hmm:

I have a similar thing on my hand, my GP gave me Dermol (green bottle) and it works very well. It says to apply every time I wash my hands. Give it a go!

On the topic of scaly skin, the in-betweens of my fingers get dry easily. I put lotion on it but doesn't really help.

Any suggestions? :X
 
check out where you have dermalogica products stocked in your area and take her to get her face mapped. it works really well and has made a dif to my own skin, for the dry scaly, ask for 'microfoliant' + a cream

Use a better cream... maybe E45 as has been mentioned earlier.
Or wear gloves, that way you won't notice it so much... and you'll be harder for the police to catch.
