how to move files from C drive to D E or F ?

Which are the 3 big folders you have? Also delete all your temp files, (depends on which version of windows you're using but usually you go to start, then run, then type "%temp%"). Once you hit enter another box comes up and you can delete all the files in that box.

You need to start saving your work to the other drives and not C drive.

Did you partition your hard drive?

I'd still start using your other drives. What I do on mine is:

Have a partition for windows
A partition for programs
and a partition for my work

No, 4% free space is very less for optimum performance. You will get low disk space message again.

Check your "My Documents" folder. If the size is very big, and if you use it to store your documents then try moving it to the D drive. Do not move this folder by drag and drop method. Use the following procedure:
Right click on My Documents -> click on Properties.
Under the Target tab, click on Move. It will ask you to select a destination.
Expand My Computer and then D drive by clicking on the + sign next to it.
Click on D drive and create a New Folder under it. You can name it as My Documents or whatever you want.
No click ok. InshaAllah all your documents will now be saved in this folder.

I followed several adviced given here and not getting low space warning anymore :D

C drive has now 414 MG . it needs minimum 200 MG . So , thanks a lot to my sisters and brothers who wanted to help .

Some good housekeeping advice:

You should have at least 20GB (still pushing it) space on C drive to install your system and programs.

A good idea would be to merge F and C drives and merge all the rest as secondary drive. Personally i'd get a bigger hard drive.

It seems you already have a 30GB hard drive to work with, how old is that pc?

Download CCleaner from www.download.com, it's a good program to delete all temp files and stuff of your pc. Also do Disk clean up (right click C drive, properties, Disk cleanup) to free up space.

You can also install small softwares like Sumtra instead of Adobe to read your pdf files.
 
I can't resist saying: Try removing MS Windows :p

Now, while not joking, try formating C: and reinstalling windows. This will help you alot. You can move your documents etc to other drives before you format C. You will have to reinstall other applictions such as MS office etc.

There is another thing if you can do with formating C, disable and remove restore points your system has created. This will give you a good free space. I don't find this feature very useful as most of the viruses attack it and leave no point for restoring the system to an early date. :hmm:

Now I am suspecting that you may have a virus that consume the space...what anti-virus you use sis?
 
As Tilmeez said, have you considered backing up your important documents etc. and then formatting and reinstalling windows?

I read an advice in an article - as long as ur machine runs , don't try to fix it .

So , may be it's better if I try not to format / reinstall window. Chances are high that my computer will die :omg:

one way to do it is by reformatting the whole HD and reinstalling the system. This is a long process, clean process and would require you to back up your data first.

Another way is that there are programs available out there that will merge your drive partitions like that but I never used any so can't say how it will go.

If you haven't cleaned it in ages than go for it, best way to do it is this. Disconnect it from the power, open up the pc panel so you can see inside it and get a compressed air duster, use that to blow out the dust and stuff from the pc, no need to take out the HD or any other components. This will solve any slow pc or over heating issues you may have. The low space issue will still exist and you can't clean that by manual cleaning the drive. Go to www.download.com and search for ccleaner and install that and run it.

I thought it was dying of low space already :p If you don't want to format then uninstall more programs. Make a list of all the programs you actually use (microsoft office, etc.), and delete all those you don't use (go to add/remove programs in control panel). No point leaving programs installed if you don't use them.

No need to do this.... unless you have so much dirt inside your pc that its somehow stopping the fans from turning. Your problem is not overheating.

^^ Best advice download CCleaner
and clean your temporary internet files, cookies and history

Secondly if you have other drives like D, F, G... etc
you can install some programs in those Drives
