I thought you guys might find this a pleasant read?

Shaykh ‘Abdul Muhsin al-Qaasim (Imaam of the Prophets Masjid)

So I started these classes with Shaykh Abdul Muhsin al-Qaasim one of the Imaams of the Prophets Masjid. Those of you who know him will know him for his incredibly strong hifdh of the Qur’aan and his excellent tajweed.

Well anyways I am memorizing mutun, which is the plural of matn basically classical islamic texts dealing with different fields, some are in tawheed others in tajweed whilst a few are in fiqh etc.

It is pretty easy and straight forward, what I like the most is the fact that the Shaykh himself wrote a small book about how to go about memorizing things, wether it be poetry or just normal text.

He writes:

Being regular in your memorization and not overwhelming yourself with big portions and taking it step by step has been the way of the scholars, Imaam az-Zuhri said:

Verily we gathered this knowledge one or two hadiths a time

And the matn (classical text) is either a hadith of the Prophet, or normal text or poetry.

If what you are memorizing is hadith then do not do more than three hadiths a day. If what you are memorizing is normal text then do one sentence at a time, not exceeding five lines. And if what you are memorizing is poetry then do not exceed 3 couplets a day.

And in this fashion your hifdh will become stronger and stronger.

And the process of the actual memorizing is by you repeating your selected portion 20 times. And the best time to do this is after the Fajr prayers. After ‘Asr you repeat that which you memorised in the morning.

The following day, before you move on, you should revise yesterdays portion about 20 times (by heart). Then you link yesterdays lesson with todays lesson and this is how you keep going.

And remember that memorizing is nothing but repetition. Is-haaq ash-Shayraazi used to repeat every portion one hundred times!

^Indescribable!!!!! (Is that even spelt correctly? :ermm:) Sheikh Maahir's recitations leave me speechless! And I like the way Sheikh Ali Mullah says the Takbeer for the Sajdah Tilaawah :shade:

Sheikhein Khayyaath and Hudhaifiyy for Jumua today.

I just wanted to share a few real player radio links for the salaah:

Saudi Quraan radio (Makkah Salaah): mms://38.96.148.74/rd3 and rtsp://216.39.218.22/broadcast/quran.rm

Radio Jedda (Makkah Athaan, Salaah and Jumua): mms://38.96.148.74/rd1

Radio Jedda - second Channel (Madeenah Athaan, Salaah and Jumua) : mms://38.96.148.74/rd2

Radio Jedda plays music so just becareful to switch it on just at the salaah times and switch it off thereafter :X

and Saudi Quraan Radio is a bit addictive :hiding:

:w:

Yes that was very emotional , i was watching that day lie on TV, I remmber it was when we had the first blockade of gaza , I was heartbroken n when the sheikh chose these ayaat n recited them this way i cannot explain how i felt, Its kinda related , In this surah also Muslims were facing a great test , madinah was surrounded, just like gaza was surrounded , n the jews were involved as well in battle of al ahzaab or the trench.. If u think about it these ayaat touch u in a whole another way.

:w:

Yes sheikh sudais is expected , i see the flyers all over the masajid for that event.

But i dont see ANY ulama in that event , Not to disrespect or belittle any one , but an alim is an alim n a student of knowledge n daaee( caller) is a daeei.

I see Al afasy, he is in no way an alim not even close to an alim or even a student of knowledge , he is a nasheed singer n yes a qari, I am very upset with him coz he recently made a nasheed with music n claimed that it cost him millions to make it n dedicated it to UAE, That was it for me. May Allah guide him.

I see yasir qadhi , again not an alim , not even close to an alim.

I see our brother abur rahman green n yusuf estes, not ulama , not even close , yes they are good students of knowledge n callers.

All im trying to say is , be aware of ghuloo , dont take a person below what he is nor take him above his level.

And all the people i mentioned if u would ask them if they were scholars they will be pretty mad at you and tell u themselfes that the are not scholars at all .

we all know attitude of al albani n ibn uthaimeen n other great scholars towards such comments , they used to refer to themselfes as students of knowledge. So how about our brothers from the west who are not even alims.

SubhanAllah that firday fajr by sheikh mahir is sooo amazing,

May Allah reward those who bring it to us , like haramian recordings n all , atleast we get to hear it , but i still feel like i have missed something amazing , wish i was there for this particular salah n the way sheikh recited it, but Alhumdolillah ala kul haal n alhumdolillah i was able to listen to it regardless, but still this was just awsome.

The sheikh has sort of a sadness n sorrow in his voice , n such melody ,... absolutely beautiful

Tilawaah Mumtaaz by Sheikh al-Mu'ayqali in Salat al Fajr :) After Sajda Tilawah, the Sheikh changed his tone. It was nice masha'Allah.

Sheikh Aal Talib for Jumua in Makkah.. and Sheikh al Budair in Madeenah.

EDIT: Sorry for the wrong name I wrote earlier for Makkah Jumua3. I thought Sheikh Sudais led.

I thought it was sheikg aal talib for makkah , n a nice khutbah mashahAllah. Coz i just heared te khutbah by sheikh aal talib while driving , it was on sharjah raio so i dont know... r u sure it was sudais in makkah today??

Yup, it was cheikh Aal Taleb who led the jum'a khutbah in Mekka.

:sl:

Yep it was Abu Abdil Majeed for khutbah in Makkah today :shade:, not Abu Abdil Azeez. He did khutbah in Dubai today. Sheikh Maahir's Fajr was Khaashi3, Masha Allah! :) Sheikh Ali Mullah was good in Athaan, Iqaamah and Tableegh for today's Jumua. :thumbs_up

Sheikh Aal Taalib spoke about Falasteen  Made me cry.....in 1st khutbah, in dua, in Sura Teen and in Sura Nasr. It really touches the heart when Palestine is the topic imsad. Oh Allah return Masjidul Aqsa to the Muslims! Ameen....

I didn't listen to Madeenah Khutbah. I tried to download from iHaram, but it somehow didn't download properly. Can anyone provide a quick link :?

sheikh sudais's jummah today was really nice it was very simple and basic by the sheikh.

What i have noticed is that when sheikh sudais travels abroad he does makes his speeches simple and memorises it but mashAllah it was nice. it was on dubai tv.
