Brother Aadil was correct (it is 1 gigabytes per second, not 1 gigabytes download)
South Korea has the best (and fastest) broadband connection in the world.
Their government developed very extensive fibre optic networks and subsidized initial infrastructures.
1 Gigabytes per second ....... ????

Wooow !, we can say goodbye to loading time !.

Gigabits maybe?! I don't think the network hardware even exists for 1 gigabyte per second :O

You are right. My bad, it is 1 Gbps or Gigabits per second.
very impressive, right?

1000 bits = 1 Kb ( B-Bytes, b-bits)

1Gbps = 1000Mbps >> which is very very impressive....

:ooh:..Its 500 times faster than my connection.......I have a 2Mbps connection.

I thought, 8 bits=1 byte
1 KB=10^3 bytes = 0.93KiB
1 MB=10^6 bytes = 0.93MiB
1 GB=10^9 bytes = 0.93GiB
1 TB=10^12 bytes = 0.93TiB

Actually, I was reading again, it turned out that the commercial 1 Gbps connection is not available in Korea until 2012. Their existing broadband connection is actually 100 Mbps. However, some south koreans have posted on youtube videoclips of their downloading files at 400Mbps!

the SK government is spending 24.6 billions USD to build the 1 Gbps infrastructures.

This video shows only 100Mbps :p
I think Virgin in the UK are also planning 100Mbps in the coming year or so.

My computer is PC, not laptop. My internet connection is through fixed telephone line, not cellular. But I don't know why, when the rain is coming, my internet connection is going worse.

The line going from your house to the exchange might be missing some insulation.

Usually the connection speeds are mentioned in bits than Bytes...

Upper case - B for Bytes
Smaller case - b for bits

And wherever its refered in Bytes ........the K = 1024 (i.e. 2^10 ) >> 1KB = 1024 Bytes

and wherevr its refered in bits... the K = 1000...which is the usual K >> 1Kb = 1000 bits

Surprised my upload speed is that low. Who cares. Don't upload much.

More downloading.

MP3 (5MB) 4 seconds
Video clip (35MB) 28 seconds
Movie (800MB) 11 seconds.

That's what its all about.
