Asalamu Alekum

Just wanted to refer to something that annoys me a lot.
You know many people love their country so much (that's not bad) and are ready to die for their country but when it comes to Islam, they are not ready to even tell a person insulting it, "dont do so".
I find this a pity. Subhanah Allah. What is more important? They think that their country brought them but it is Allah subhanah wa Taalah who brought them up and their country was only a reason.

Assalaamu 'alaykum,

there is a hadeeth which says that "to love ones hometown is a part of faith."

this is however unauthentic...

mayb ppl r comming form that angle?

Allaahu 'alam... just saying

I agree with this.
I remember I heard/read this "hadith" cited many times in schools, to build up our "nasionalisme dan patriotisme" (nationalism and patriotism).

This topic is especially very hot these days in Indonesia as there is increasing negative sentiment against Malaysia (for reasons too pathetic and baffling to explain). I find this trend very pathetic and stupid.
The very same (muslim) people who are ready to die for indonesia for some silly reasons would never in a million years react to defend Islam and prophet Muhammad SAW.

Wait...'to love ones hometown is a part of faith'? Even if that state/hometown/country is democratic or secular or a kuffar country? I don't think so because the only rule one should appreciate is The Caliphate. I don't love this democratic country especially when they do not stop these illegal occupations...

First, I am a Human Being
Second, I am a Muslim
There is no third.

I remember, in a Hindi movie, a man said, "First I am an Indian and after that I am a Muslim". Funny innit? ;D;D;D

Here people are not concerned about the occupations in Kasmir, Palestine and most of them don't know even about Chechnya and Bosnia :( This media and film industry has corrupted their minds and instilled their rotten philosophy. They only think that India will be a super power one day ;D;D;D;D;D They keep forgetting about the Ghazwatul Hind ;D

I think there is a difference between being proud of where you're from and thinking you're better than someone else based on where you're from. I am what I am and I am proud of what I am but I wouldnt die or kill for nationalism neither do I think i'm better than anyone else because of my background. I think it's only natural to have a connection to your homeland but we should remember that we are muslim first and everything else comes after that.
Salam

Ghazwatul Hind?? what is that?

Ghazwatul Hind, Occupation Of India by the Mujahedeens from KHorasan!!!!!! ;D
The Prophet said, "Two groups of my Ummah Allah has protected from the hellfire: a group that will conquer India and a group that will be with 'Eessa bin Maryam - " (Ahmad, an-Nisa'i, and at-Tabarani.)

If i had to choose between Islam and my country i wud choose Islam but that wont stop me from loving my country...
I live in a city prone to terror attacks but have never faced any discrimination. The Non Muslims here are unprejudiced against Islam. I didnt even had to explain to my Non Muslim friends/people with whom i have to interact, after 26/11 that Islam does not promote terrorism, they were sensible enough to know this. So i see no reason why I should hate my democratic country:)
( but i detest the politicians:raging:)

What makes you think that Democracy is THE RIGHT type of government? It was the form of government which was used by Britishers to Abolish the Caliphate.

...loving my country...

Okay but I want to give my thoughts here...I apologize in advance...as it is going to be hard for you to digest.

Hmph! This country has done nothing good for me and can never expect my love towards her. How can you forget occupation of Kashmir, massacre in Mumbai, Gujrat, Hyderabad...THIS DEMOCRATIC government and politicians don't take necessary steps to prevent this or bring justice to the oppressed ones.

Edit: Also I can never forget the demolition of Babri Masjid and annihilation of innocent Muslims....:'(

Is it authentic? It does not have a mention in Sihah-e-Sitta, the six books considered most reliable by main-stream Muslims.
IT is said that Islamists and right-wing-military-apologists have fallen to the propaganda of Pakistan Army and ISI when they propagate waging a war against the neighboring country India, finding excuses for doing so through hadees. Zaid Hamid, the mouth-piece of ISI and Pakistan Army has been making use of Ghazwa-tul-Hind (6 hadees in total) to justify his actions against India...
Brother I may be wrong but one should not promote an idea or movement by referring to disputed or unauthentic hadeeth.

^ First of all Pakistan is not an Islamic country, their army is not an Islamic one. (I remember someone said in media that 'Pakistan Ialam ka thekedar nahin hai).

The hadeeth is classed as saheeh and authentic and it is the army from Khorasan not current Pakistan.

I mentioned i detest the politicians. You may be aware that all the riots were politically motivated. Remember the human chain( by non muslims) that protected many muslims... Brother you are right but that wont make me wrong... and yeah lets just stop here. we are goin off topic :offtopic:
wallaikum salam brother:)

Nationalistic muslims are the most jaahil of this earth, these same people are the reason the khilafah broke up, the reason the muslim world is in a mess right now - because their loyalties are not to Al-Islam rather their 'democratic' leaders

In islam there is no motherland we have to be loyal to, we should be proud that islam unifies muslims from all over the world into one nation - not people of different lands and ethnicities,

this life on earth is temporary, we are supposed to live here like we are travellers, muslims who have a sense of belonging to this world have serious issues on their hands - Allah may place the love of dunya in their hearts instead of the love of deen - then you're screwed

Agreed!

Nationalism is the same reason why Muslims wont let their daughter or sons marry someone from another race who is a Muslim. Let face it even those who in live in a Muslim land would rather die than let their daughter or son marry a black person (or anyone with darker skin tone) but wouldn't mind if they are white. This is not exclusive to those in the west.

Saudis have more rights than someone from different race who was born there (not that should matter as the same rule does apply to people who have stayed there for years).

Oh has anyone seen how Somalis refugees (possible other Africans too) are treated in Yemen? I watched it on Aljazeera.

Nice

Yes .... !. Love OUR hometown is a part of faith.

Bro, hometown means our land and people who live on it. This is different than meaning of country as government, national ideology, and political system.
Fight for defend our hometown from aggressor who want to invade it, can be considered as jihad. This is different than fight for defend govt who start a war causes by political reason.

After reading some of the posts i was beginning to feel that itz a sin to luv the place where u r born unless its an Islamic country.

no thats incorrect, we muslims always end up takin one of the extremes as our views, theres no sin to love the place where you're born, the sin is give your loyalties to unislamic rulers of the land rather than Allah and then identify yourself with your birthplace rather than your deen
