I hope he is not referring to Jesus.

I don't know if I agree with this quote.

The pleasures of life are tempting and pleasing. Never painful. To give up those pleasures takes a lot of strength. And that strength is gained when one understands that the Hereafter is better than this dunya.

That strength is gained when one acquires knowledge and has increased faith in the Last Day.

Real sacrifice is when a person puts the needs of others before his own.... and this has got nothing to do with how he feels about the sacrifice he is making. He cares not about how he feels. He does it.... to seek Allah's good pleasure.

Consider the story of Ibrahim, alayhis salam.... and how he was willing to sacrifice his own son! Did he feel sorrow? Or did he feel peace and joy at the time of making the sacrifice? Well, he didn't care how he felt. He only knew that he could not disobey his Lord. And obey Him he did, and willing to sacrifice his son he was.... regardless of how he felt about it.

How is possible for one's heart to be certain that one is going to meet Allah swt, that Allah swt sees and hears all that he does, and knows his secrets, and that he will be be made to stand before Allah swt, answerable for all his deeds - how can one be certain and aware of all this, and yet persists upon things which displease Allah: persists abandoning Allah's orders, neglecting His rights, and yet claims he has good expectation of Allah?
