Asalaam alaykum,

I've just spent the last 6 months in Bangladesh. While I was living in the UK, I only wore the hijab to go to the mosque, but in Bangladesh, I wore it all the time if I was outside. Now i've noticed my hair has bald patches and is looking very thin on the top of my head.

When I brush my hair, alot of hair is coming out in the brush, but i can't say i've noticed patches of hair falling out on my pillow or in my hijabs.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? and is there a way to stop it happening :(

** edited for typos.**

Don't pull your hair tightly during combing and try to switch Hijab to only natural breathing materal. It is natural to lose hair everyday in the shower and whatnot as new strands push old ones out and hair grows in different cycles.. Hair loss in patches with complete balding spots especially in circular patterns or male pattern baldness in the front may indicate an underlying pathology.. so if you want just to be safe see your GP and get your hormone levels checked..

and Allah swt knows best

May Allah swt grant you fast shifa'a..
forogot to add to the above that women of child bearing age might be defecient in some vitamins and/or minerals so you might really want to get a basic workup.. sometimes it is very easy to correct a problem if you address the underlying cause of it..

I've been experiencing the same thing.... :hiding:
my hair has become very thin but alhamdulillah its still there ;)
Hope someone prays for us and his/her du'a is accepted :)

wasalaam!

:salamext: Get SEA KELP tablets, alot of people recommend them and their hair grows back thicker and fuller too.

Wa alaikum assalam, sister what comes to my mind is something I read about high levels of aresenic in the wells of Bangladesh.

The following are some signs of arsenic poisoning. If you have several of these arsenic poisoning symptoms you should get tested for arsenic poisoning.

asalaam alaykum,

Yes, i'd heard about high levels of arsnic to in the Bangladesh wells. I thought if you boiled it, it was safer to drink? I'll mention it to the Dr next week.

Many thanks for the information :)

I would expect boiling to help with bacteria and other pathogens, but not with an inorganic chemical/element. In sha Allah, you will be OK as I would also expect the effect of arsenic to require a longer period of exposure than 6 months. The doctor should be able to tell if it is arsenic poisoning by taking hair and fingernail samples I would think.

In TCM (traditional chinese medicine) hair loss is related to kidney deficiency. If the kidneys are weak/have Qi imbalance, they cannot regulate water in the body effectively and cause the hair follicles to swell and the hair to fall out. Having said that, you should notice a difference by cutting down on salt, preservatives and junk food.

[h=3]Strengthening kidney naturally[/h] Besides herbs for kidney, there are some foods that can improve kidney energy such as black bean and black sesame. Ganoderma Lucidum as herb for kidney certainly help to improve its functions too.
