Laylatul Miraj

Is it recommended to pray nawafil at night on the day of Miraj?

No. There is nothing special or different to be done on this night. Neither the Prophet :saws: or his beloved companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did anything different on this night, either in terms of worship or anything else.
