is this a Sahih Hadith or weak one ? Please provide reference
I cant understand how the reward of a such an easy simple act can be equated to the reward hajj.
The thawab of hajj is the forgiveness of SinsPerforming a Hajj is a very difficult thing to do. People struggle to save money for years and then be in a state of Ihram and have to travel with huge crowds between places Makkah Muna , Arafat and Muzdalifah and also do the stoning
:wa:, The hadith above is from At Tirmidhi and is classified as Sahih. Here are more narrations that support the hadith listed above:
- From Abi Umaamah who said: “Allah’s Messenger, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, said: ‘Whoever prays the morning prayer in congregation then sits remembering Allah until he sun rises, then stands up ad prays two units of prayer returns with the reward of Hajj and `Umrah’” (narrated by Tabarani).
- From `Abdullah bin `Aamir that Abu Umaamah and `Utbah Bin `Abd related that Allah’s Messenger, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam said: “Whoever prays as-S.ubh. (i.e. fajr prayer) in congregation then sits until he prays for Allah the prayer of Dhuha has the reward like that of a haajj (pilgrim performing Hajj) and a mu`tamir (pilgrim peforming `Umrah), complete reward of his Hajj and his `Umrah” (narrated by Tabarani).
- From `Usrah who said, “I heard the Mother of believers, meaning `Aa’isha, say: ‘I heard Allah’s Messenger, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, say: ‘Whoever prays fajr (or he said al-ghadaah, [transl. both referring to the morning prayer]), then sits in his place and does not speak idly with something from matters of this world and remembers Allah until he prays four units of Dhuha, he will leave his sins like the day his mother bore him, without any sin’‘” (narrated by Ibn Hajr).
- From Sammaak That he asked Jaabir bin Samurah: “What did the Messenger, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam do when he prayed as-Subh (the morning prayer).” He said: “He used to sit in the Musallaa after he prayed as-Subh until the Sun rises” (narrated by Muslim).
- From Sahl bin Mu`aadh bin Anas al-Juhani from his father, that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, said: “Whoever sits in his prayer area (musallaa) after he completes as-Subh prayer until he prays two units of Dhuha prayer, [and] doesn’t say except what is good, his sins will be forgiven even if they are more than the foam of the sea” (narrated by Abu Dawud).
Women get the same reward for praying Fajr at home and then remaining seated worshipping until 20 minutes after sunrise. Firstly what we have to realise is that it is not so easy to remain seated from Fajr all the way until 20 minutes after Sunrise. Secondly any hadith which talks about the reward of a huge good deed such as Hajj/Umra for example is not talking about the reward of actually physically carrying out a Fard Hajj or Umrah as one may gain so many other good deeds whilst doing so but it is the equivalent reward of just the Hajj or Umrah. Scholars have said regarding such actions that there is a difference between jaza’ (reward) and ijza’ (what is sufficient). Jaza’ means the reward which Allaah gives for obeying Him. Ijza’ means what is sufficient and takes the place of something else.
For example reciting Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad brings a reward equivalent to reciting one-third of the Qur’aan, but it does not take the place of reading one-third of the Qur’aan.
If a person vows – for example – to read one-third of the Qur’an, it is not sufficient for him to read Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad, because it is equivalent to one-third of the Qur’aan in reward, but not in terms of being sufficient or taking the place of reading one-third of the Qur’aan. Similarly just because a person has done an act which may carry the reward of Hajj and Umrah then it does not mean that they are absolved of carrying it out but that they recieve the Jaza for the good act from Allah
A similar example is the reward given by the Lawgiver to one who offers a single prayer in the Sanctuary of Makkah, and that he will have the reward of one hundred thousand prayers. Does anyone take this divine bounty to means that he does not have to pray for decades because he offered a single prayer in the Haram that is equivalent to one hundred thousand prayers? Rather this has to do with reward; as for what is sufficient, that is another matter altogether.
We should also realise that our Ummah is the shortest living Ummah and therefore Allah from his infinite generosity has bestowed upon us the opportunity to gain such huge rewards very easily but we are still negligent and how many of us truly take advantage of gaining such huge rewards?
There are many other good acts we can do which will give one the reward of a Hajj and Umrah.
Some are listed here:
Good deeds that carry the reward of Hajj & Umrah
1 -
Performing the ‘Ishaa’ and Fajr prayers in congregation:
Abu Tharr narrated that a group of the Companions came to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and said, “O Messenger of Allaah, the wealthy people will have higher grades and will have permanent enjoyment and they pray like us and fast as we do. They have more money, which they give in charity.”The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), , replied:
“Has Allaah not rendered for you the‘Ishaa’ prayer in congregation equal to Hajj, and the Fajr prayer in congregation equal to ‘Umrah?” [Muslim]
2 -
Attending the congregational prayers at the mosque and walking to the mosque to perform voluntary prayers:
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), , said: “Whoever walks to [perform] an obligatory prayer in congregation, it is like Hajj [in terms of rewards], and whoever walks to [perform] a voluntary prayer, it is like a voluntary ‘Umrah [in terms of rewards].” [Hasan] Walking to the mosque to perform Sunnah prayers such as the Dhuha prayer as mentioned in the version of Abu Daawood. Al-Munaawi said, “Whoever walks to [the mosque to] perform an obligatory prayer should hurry. Whoever walks to [perform] an obligatory prayer in congregation, will be rewarded for his walking with equal rewards to those of performing Hajj and whoever walks to [perform] a voluntaryprayer, will receive the rewards of performing voluntary ‘Umrah, but not necessarily the exact equal.”
2 -
Reciting Dhikr after the five daily prayers:
Abu Hurayrah (Ra) narrated that a group of destitute people came to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and said,
“O Messenger of Allaah, the wealthy people will have higher grades and will have permanent enjoyment in high levels in Paradise. They pray like us and fast as we do, but they have more money by which they perform the Hajj, ‘Umrah, participate in Jihaad and give in charity.” The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), replied:
“Shall I not tell you something upon which if you acted you would catch up with those who have surpassed you? Nobody would surpass you and you would be better than the people amongst whom you live except those who would do the same. Say ‘Subhaan Allaah’, ‘Alhamdulillaah’ and ‘Allaahu Akbar’ thirty-three times each after every (compulsory) prayer.’" [Al-Bukhaari]
3 -
Observing the 10 days of I'tikaf:
Ali Ibn Hussain (RA) narrates from his father that Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:
“He who observes the ten days I’tikaf during Ramadhan will obtain the reward of two Hajj & two Umrah.” (Bayhaqi)
4 -
Attending the ‘Eed prayers (both ‘Eed Al-Adh-ha and ‘Eed Al-Fitr):
Ibn Rajab (Ra) narrated that the Companion Mikhnaf ibn Sulaym (Ra) said,
“The reward for attending ‘Eed Al-Fitr prayer is equal to the reward of performing ‘Umrah and the reward for attending ‘Eed Al-Adh-ha Prayer is equal to that of performing Hajj.”
