Qu'ran & Abuse of Women...

Males are to inherit twice that of females. 4:11 (*1)

8.

Explanation:
In pretty much every culture the man worked, the woman didn't. The man had to provide for the family, therefore he needed the money more so he could get started (take care of his family, start a business, ect.)..the women on the other hand got married to the man who would be working, so she really didn't need the money that much. So it makes sense.

Salaam,

In addition to your explantion, the man is also required to provide for the women, while the women are allowed to keep all of their money. So when it comes to inheritance, the women get to keep all their money for themselves while the men have to use the money they recieve to provide for the family. So it would make sense that the men would have to get more than the women. Also, if you think about it the women are pretty lucky because the men have to spend on them and they get to keep their money for themselves! :)

Greetings,
Hey Guy's, How is The Quran hard to understand?

I've read some of the most difficult works of literature that exist, but I'm still baffled by the Qur'an. See post #20 of this thread for an example of me getting very confused by what appears to be a simple contradiction:

Surah 2:62

Peace

Hi, The question was to make you think.

When I picked up the translation of the Quran, I never found it hard to understand.
They way you look at it is you concentrate on a point of the needle and you forget the existence of the whole needle.

If you go and look for contradiction, than you only convince yourself.
I did not found, yoou supposed contradiction, what you posted [post 20], hard too understand at all, (no contradiction at all).

That's why I asked how is the Quran hard to understand?
The question was not because I found any difficulty with it.

I've read many posts that I've been directed to on this forum; however, none have satisfied my questions about the translation of the Quran. In all due respect, the translations seem to cause many different interpretations of Islam. In this regard, Islam seems as diverse as Christianity.

As far as the Quran and the abuse of women go, I like to be optimistic and believe that the abuses are taken out of context, or outdated. However, since I do not speak arabic, I'll never know.

Or you can always read the OT.

Which questions are those?

The problem comes when non-muslims and some muslims begin to equate translator with Islamic scholar, specially when many of these translators did not have a formal education in Islam. If you bring up a specific example I can show you exaclt what I mean.

Thank you for the very kind offer. My questions are too numerous.
