4 things to do on the Blessed 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah

How am I supposed to fast on the ninth day of dhul Hijjah (September 10) when I have an exam that day and my mother doesn't let me fast on exam days?

It is not Fardh for you to fast on that day. Maybe your mother knows you better than you think, and that if you fast, you will be adversely affected and not do well on your test.

Take her advice in this.

Dates of the 10 blessed days of Dhul Hijjah 2017

The 10 blessed days of Dhul Hijjah are better than any other day of the year including the last ten days of Ramadan. The nights are more blessed than any other night (except the nights of Ramadan).

Almighty Allah swears upon these days and nights in Surah Fajr: "By the Dawn; By the ten Nights". (89:1-2)

The first of the 10 Blessed Days of Dhul Hijjah began Wed 23rd August from Fajr to Maghrib

8th Dhul Hijjah/Start of Hajj: Wednesday 30th August.

The Day of Arafat - Thursday 31st August from Fajr to Maghrib

Eid al-Adha/Yaum an-Nahr: Friday 1st September

It is from the Sunnah to increase in worship and good deeds during these blessed days and nights especially fasting on the Day of Arafah.

Abu Qutadah (ra) reports that the Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasallam) was asked about fasting on the Day of Arafah. He said, “It expiates for the sins of the previous year and of the coming year.” (Muslim)

Refer to the following article to make the best of these blessed days and nights of the year:

May Allah make it easy for the pilgrims and accept their sincere efforts, patience through any hardships, Worship and their Hajj Mabroor. May he enable us to make the best of these blessed days and nights and accept our worship and Dua's. Ameen

It's surprising, many of us don't realise that just because we are not going on Hajj ourselves doesn't mean we can't reap huge rewards from these blessed days. There are so many things you can do in Dhul Hijjah....and not just feel left out and passively wait until you can go to Hajj yourself (in'sha'Allah).
