Assalamualaikum,

Religion Islam , what kind of view it has on massage therapy. E.g a woman can get a massage session from another woman? Is it allowed in islam? When one feels tired and exhausted, for rejuvenating can massage be performed by woman. Please provide information on this. Thanks.

Yes you can have a massage from same gender for the reasons you've stated.

It is permissible as long as the woman giving the massage is not seeing and/or touching the `Awrah of the woman she is giving the massage to. The `Awrah of one Muslim woman in front of another Muslim woman is the area between the navel and the knees.

والله تعالى أعلم

People should learn massage therapy so that they can do it for their spouse.

That would be beneficial. And free, too.

Thank you for your answers. A slight confusion still there, regarding awrah. Is chest massage allowed by woman? Or lower back massage because of back pain?

Do you mean a man getting a chest or back massage by a Ghayr Mahram woman? If so, then no, it is not permissible.

Permissible, provided it's a Muslim woman getting the massage by another Muslim woman.

Just as a caution and reminder: women cant give other women massage in in places like chest there is no need for this kind of contact. Please clarify:ia:

Ok JazakAllah. Yes i also heard that a Muslim and trust worthy woman should perform massage therapy on a Muslim woman. As a woman massager of questionable character may not be trusted for massage therapy.

I feel this crosses immodesty.. / or is very close to that. Can any clarify?

Yes especially if its not done for medical reasons, its not right, its unethical. Another thing is that a normal massage does not include the chest area.

It's not necessarily unethical, just not normally part of the massage. Actions are but intentions. If there's a need for it then it can be done.

Google benefits of chest massage.
