My Mother always tells me to not sleep like that as this gives me "gunnah".
Sleeping posture: face faces ground, back faces sky.

Sleep on your right. It's Sunnah. Also, you won't get nightmares (In Shaa Allaah) if you sleep on your right. Neither will you snore.

Get a body pillow, and sleep with it on your right side, leaning on it. It will help train you to sleep on your side rather than your stomach, insha'Allah.

Tried and failed many times. Therefore i'm asking if its a big gunnah to do so?

It is not gunnah per se, it is just not following the Sunnah. Only gunah here would be not following the Sunnah and do as commanded.

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Do not lie in this manner, for it is a way of lying that Allaah hates.’

According to another report, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Do not lie like this, for this is how the people of Hell lie.”

(Reported by Ahmad, al-Fath al-Rabbaani, 14/244-245; by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2798, Shaakir edn.; and by Abu Dawood, al-Sunan, Kitaab al-Adab, no. 5040, al-Da’aas edn. Also reported in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 2270-2271)

my question is regarding a posting i saw in your website that it is preffered for a Muslim to sleep on his right side and not on his stomach. Is that true? and what if a person due to problems with his back can't sleep except on his stomach?

If you have no choice but to sleep on your back, there is nothing wrong with doing so, so long as you are keen to follow the Sunnah and the only reason you cannot put this particular aspect of it into practice is your illness. And Allaah knows best.

I know people who snored while sleeping on their back but whenever they slept on their right side, there wouldn't be any snoring. So first-hand experience is my evidence in this case.

I been on jamat jorr, and all I heard all night, was snoring from every single direction and this underlying continuous droning lower frequency snore from the "ambience" in the main hall of the merkez...

Not sure if sleeping on the right really stops snoring tbh. Not sure if most of them were on their right either, not with a foot in my face.
