Proper Jewish Modesty (The Hijab)

Hijab as it is described in Islam existed in both Judaism and Christianity. Look at how Mary is portrayed in the medieval Christian paintings. Medieval queens of Europe were wearing like that as well.

According to a famous American Historian Will Durant:-“If a Jew lady lacks in following the rules like for example she would go without covering her head in street or in front of other men, or even her voice get heard by other men or neighbours. Assalamu alaykum,

Definitely, within the Jewish and Christian religions hijab is actually highly recommended, if not prescribed as compulsory, for women. And you only need to look at the Christian depictions of Mary, the way her hair is veiled or the very flowing jilbab-like robes that nuns wear, to see covering the hair is associated with piety and modesty.

And historically, women in Europe from upper-class or noble families would completely veil themselves outside of the home, sometimes including a face veil.

It's just ironic that on the one hand it is considered to be a symbol of purity and yet when it's associated with Islam it's shouted down as backward.

I agree, there are hypocritical double standards...but it is beautiful that different religions have so much in common, proof that Musa (AS) and Isa (AS) were prophets but that their messages simply altered, but some of it still there nonetheless....and there is much similarity, you will find, between different cultures......the whole world is one race, and inshaallah we will be united by Islam.
