Hello everyone I am new on this forum and I hope that someone here will be able to clarify this issue for me.

So 3 to 4 years ago something happened to me that is still startling me. I have tried to see if someone had experienced the same thing online but couldn't find no one.
So I was at that time in my home country. The house I was living in was big with different trees in the compound. One day I was in the living room watching tv, kids were playing outside, I could hear them, and also I could hear my cousins in the other room talking and watching tv, I was by myself, the light was turned off but the tv was on though. Suddenly I heard something breathing heavily in my ears. I couldn't believe it. I thought some kid was just next to me playing some pranks but there was no one. At first, it was so sudden that I couldn't move. I was honestly scared to turn my back and look around. But I waited though and the same thing happened. I eventually turned around and couldn't find anyone. I don't know whether I recited Ayatul kurusi or not, I probably did. Anyway i kept the same position and it happened again. I turn on the light and went outside to check on kids but they were still playing. It happened to me couple times again, same scenario. Until today I still don't know what that was.
Something else happened, but I think it was quite my fault. I was in one of the bedrooms and everyone was sleeping. I think it was something around 1 or 2 am I can't remember. I was watching some indian movie and the light was on. Now that bedroom had a window that opened to outside. When I say outside I mean the compound. I can't really explain the plan of that house but it was weird. We had like 2 compound one was the main one and the other one was like behind and we also had a bathroom and toilet on that side and that's where the window was. In that bedroom there was a wardrobe and there was a little space between the wardrobe and the wall. While I was watching my movie I heard a noise from that little space. It sounded like a mouse was running back and forth at least that's what I thought. I got up to check on the mouse that was disturbing me but I really didn't find anything. It happened couple of times and I still couldn't find anything so I just ignore it and continue watching my movie. After a while I heard someone knocking on the window. I though it was the boy who use to live in that little room that was knocking. I went to the window called his name but he didn't respond, (I eventually found out that he didn't sleep there that night) I went to watching my Indian movie. After some times, I heard some saying (hey hey). I thought it was my cousin who was talking on the phone so I didn't really mind it. But it started to bother me after a while so went to his bedroom and started eavesdropping and the only thing I heard was him sleeping. I went back to the bedroom and continued watching my thing. The same thing happened again and again that's when I understood that what was happening in that bedroom wasn't normal. Three things happened that night, almost like a warning that I had stayed up late that it was time for me to go sleep and it was time for it to probably its stuff. I still don't really know if it was a jinn or just some coincidence I don't know. But I don't know if that has happened to anyone or anyone you know. ( sorry this was very long )
 
You should recite sura fatiha and sura annas and sura al falaq before sleep every day

This house is haunted, so do one thing, request an hafiz of Quran to recite surah al baqrah for 40 days continuously. Or if you can recite alone or with other members of family collectively, do it.
 
[FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light] It is very possibly that jinns are responsible for this. Something similar has happened to me several times. Sometimes I would hear deep breathing or a loud wind in my ear.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said: [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]“Undoubtedly the jinn can have a harmful effect on humans, and they could even kill them. They may harm a person by throwing stones at him, or by trying to terrify him, and other things that are proven in the sunnah (prophetic teachings) or indicated by real events. It was reported that the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave permission to one of his companions to go to his wife during one of the military campaigns – I think it was the campaign of al-Khandaq – as he was a young man who had recently got married. When he reached his house, he found his wife standing at the door, and he objected to that. She said to him, ‘Go inside,’ so he went inside and found a snake curled up on the bed. He had a spear with him, so he stabbed it with the spear until it died, and at the same instant as the snake died the man also died. It was not known which of them died first, the snake or the man. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard of that, he forbade killing the harmless kinds of snakes that are found in houses, apart from those which are maimed or are streaked and malignant.

There are many things that you can do to protect yourself from jinns:

[/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]It was narrated that Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to seek refuge with Allah from the jinn and from the evil eye until the Mu’awwidhatayn were revealed, and when they were revealed he started to recite them and not anything else.”[/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light](al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasaa’i, Ibn Maajah. [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]2 – Reciting ayat al-Kursiy [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) put me in charge of guarding the zakah (charity) of Ramadan. Someone came to me and started grabbing handfuls of the food. I took hold of him and said, ‘I will take you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).’ He said, ‘I will teach you some words by means of which Allah will benefit you.’ I said, ‘What are they?’ He said, ‘When you go to your bed, recite this ayah (interpretation of the meaning): “Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), Al-Hayyul-Qayyoom (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists)…” [2:255] – until he completed the ayah. Then Allah will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you and no shaytan (devil) will come near you until morning.’ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked me, ‘What did your prisoner do last night?’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, he taught me something, and claimed that Allah would benefit me by it.’ He said, ‘What was it?’ I said, ‘He taught me to recite ayat al-Kursiy when I go to bed, and said that no shaytan would come near me until morning, and that Allah would appoint a guard for me who would stay with me.’ The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘He told you the truth, although he is an inveterate liar. That was the shaytan.’” (al-Bukhaari) [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]3 – Reciting Surat al-Baqarah [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do not make your houses like graves, for the shaytan runs away from a house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited.” (Muslim) [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]4 – The last verses of Surat al-Baqarah [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]It was narrated that Abu Mas’ood al-Ansari said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever recites the last two verses of Surat al-Baqarah at night, that will suffice him.’” (al-Bukhaari, Muslim) [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]It was narrated from al-Nu’man ibn Basheer (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah inscribed a book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, from which the last two ayahs of Surat al-Baqarah were revealed. If they are recited for three nights, no shaytan (devil) will remain in the house”. (al-Tirmidhi). [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever says “La ilaha ill-Allah wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shayin qadeer” one hundred times in the day, will have a reward equivalent to that of freeing ten slaves, one hundred hasanahs (good deeds) will be recorded for him, and one hundred sayiahs (bad deeds) will be erased from his record, and it will be protection for him from the shaytan for that day, until evening comes. No one could achieve any better than him except the one who does more than he did.”[/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light](al-Bukhaari, Muslim) [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]6 – Remembering Allah often (dhikr)[/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light] It was narrated from al-Harith al-Ash’ari that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah commanded Yahya ibn Zakariya (peace be upon him) five things to follow and to enjoin upon the Children of Israel… and he commanded them to remember Allah, and the likeness of that is a man who was being pursued by the enemy, until he reached a strong fortress in which he found protection; similarly a man cannot find protection from the shaytan except by remembering Allah…” (al-Tirmidhi) [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]7 – The adaan (call to prayer) [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]It was narrated that Suhayl ibn Abi Salih said: “My father sent me to Bani Harithah, and there was with me a slave of ours, or a companion of ours. Someone called out his name from a garden, and the one who was with me looked into the garden and did not see anything. I mentioned that to my father, and he said, ‘If I had known that this was going to happen to you, I would not have sent you. But if you hear a voice then make the call for prayer, for I heard Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrating that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When the shaytan hears the call to prayer, he runs away fast.”’” (Muslim). [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]The word translated here as “runs away fast” may also mean “passes wind.” [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]8 – Reciting Quran offers protection against the shaytan [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]“And when you (Muhammad) recite the Quran, We put between you and those who believe not in the Hereafter, an invisible veil (or screen their hearts, so they hear or understand it not) [17:45] [/FONT][FONT=wf_segoe-ui_light]

Jinns were here way, way way before us... so I do not dispute any of these things. Only, I pray that their realm and my realm stay 'separated'. I know others who experience them.

Thank you guys. I will keep reciting those Ayat anytime now. I'm not living in that house now but like someone said that house was probably haunted by jinns. Than you and have a good day
 
Salaam! Seems like jinn to me. One thing you should remember about jinn is NOT to be afraid! Allah created us and Allah created the jinn. We don't have to be afraid of Allah's creation, Allah is greater than His creation, Allahu Akbar. Another thing, yes you may have been startled, that is completely normal in this situation. Next time, tell yourself mentally that there is no greater power except Allah's power and recite ayatul kursi, and the last 3 quls. I would strongly advise you to read the translation of these Quranic veres regularly especially if Arabic isn't a language you understand. When you read the translation you have better understanding of what you're reciting and that makes it more meaningful and sincere. Your story was very interesting to read and I'm glad you shared it to us. =)

Thank you. Yes you're right they are not to be afraid of. That's why that day I hold myself hard not to scream. I will definitely read the 3 surats others and you recommended. Good thing I'm not living there anymore but I keep thinking about it.

Since this issue tends to raise sentiments because certain things have become daily and normal parts of our lives, it is something that needs to be sincerely reflected on. Taqwa is the key to success.

Allah has to be happy with us. A seemingly effective result, without the pleasure of Allah, is a deception by Shaytan - which has misled many Muslims.

Islamic solution to schizophrenia that helps me.
I have schizophrenia but I have found the solution that helps me. There are times when this solution is too difficult for me especially when I am being overwhelmed. When things are easier, when the voices are not too much then I go back to my regiment. It’s important because it is a form of meditation that is very peaceful. My parents and family were also very patient with me when this all started, this was also vital. The important thing for me is that I was reminded everyday of God’s oneness. This really helped me because I was hearing terrible things about God.

The solution that helps me.

1. I Pray everyday
In Islam, Muslims pray 5 times a day. When this all started all I could do was prostrate and declare God’s oneness with my index finger. But things did get better for a while. I still struggle with prayers but I still do my best which does make me feel better.


2. I write to God about my life in a dairy.
My problem is that I forget easily the blessing in my life. Hearing the voices everyday makes one really depressed. But having a diary to God really helps me. Reason being is that I replace a negative thought process with a positive one. I don’t write about negative things in my diary. I talk about comics, good jokes, heaven, art, computer graphics, good deeds that I see people doing and especially my family and friends etc.

3. I Recite God’s names
In Islam, God has many names which relate to his personality. This helps me understand God better which helps me realize that God is with me through my sickness God willing.

The following are examples are God’s names
God: Allah
God the Merciful : ar-Raheem
God the Healer : al-Qayoom
God the Compassionate : ash-Shafee
God the Granter of Peace: as-Salaam

I was really struggling in the beginning and then I found a book of God’s names. The first name I read was (al-Muqmeen) God - The preserver of faith. To this day it’s one of my favourite names of God because I do believe without His support I would have lost faith a long time ago.

Please note: I try everyday to make relevant prayers by each of God’s names. For instance God the healer (al-Qayoom), Here, I pray for my health as well as my family and friends etc It really helps me find peace. In Islam we repeat God’s names as a form of Meditation. It’s called thikr. We use rosemary beads which really helps Muslims go to a peaceful place.



4. I also Read Quran/Surah Hasr
Allah is He than whom there is no other god Who knows (all things) both secret and open; He Most Gracious Most Merciful.

Allah is He other than whom there is no other god the sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace (and Perfection), The Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme: Glory to Allah! (high is He) above the partners they attribute to Him.

He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or colors). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: Whatever is in the heavens and on earth doth declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the exalted in Might the Wise.

5.I also Read Quran/Surah al-Ikhlaṣ

Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,
Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
He neither begets nor is born,
Nor is there to none like unto Him."

6. I take Medication
I do take medication which really helps. I did find a psychiatrist and medication that suits me. I believe God provides relief that’s why I never forget to take my meds.
