My husband and I recently had a dispute because I denounced Islam. I was very confused in the moment and didn't know what religious path I was on. He said, "I divorce you, I divorce you, I divorce you". Later when speaking about it, I told him I was just confused but I am still staying a Muslim. I sought forgiveness from allah and asked him to have mercy on me and I realise now that I don't want to be anything other than a Muslim. We are both young and love each very much and we both feel regret about the situation but my husband says that he doesn't think there is anything he can do. I looked into this issue and found a lot of contradictory sources.
Some scholars have said that triple talaq all at once only counts as one talaq and the husband may still take the wife back.
Some have said that it has to be done over a period of time, I.e. One talaq after every menstruation. Therefore giving time to calm down and reconcile.
Some have said that allah would not let a strong bond between wife and husband be irrevocably ruined in a matter of seconds and that he encourages forgiveness.
Some have quoted hadiths where the prophet said that a triple talaq all at once only counts as one and he let a couple stay married if they wished.
We really love each other and both regret our actions and have learned from them but neither of us want to do anything haram. We are both confused because we don't know which source is correct and what to follow so we are seeking expert advice. To sum it up, my question is, is it permissible for us to stay together?
