In Iran, we used to utter 'yaa-allaah' so the Imam would lengthen the ruku' so that we have time for Takbir and going to Ruku' (pillars of namaaz are the takbir.at-ul-ehraam, pre-Ruku', ruku, post-Ruku', sujood). We cannot join while imam is in sojood.Join the ruku or sujood respectively
What's your agenda for asking

But I don't see this practice here in Calgary, so I wonder why is that.
not all thhe time, but sometimes he legthens itDoesn't make sense to me. So you saying that if ten people were to come one after another, saying Ya Allah....then the Imam would have to remain in Ruku all that time ?

Not when it wasn't done by the prophet sallaho alayhi wa sallam or his companions may Allah bless them with the highest ranks of jannah

But I heard that Islamqa is run by an excommunicated Sheikh ...
WAS,Salaam brother soheil1,
We should try to be respectful of the culture. Maybe in Iran, this was a practice you and the Muslims there have done...
But if you live in Calgary Canada, and you notice nobody does this cultural practice, it's because we Canadian Muslims don't.
While the Imam is leading the prayer, we may say Ameen aloud after Surah Fatihah. Other than that. we don't utter anything aloud as not to distract others or the Imam. If you are late to congregation, you silently join in and pray the missed rakat after the prayer has ended.
Only Allah knows best.
