I came across this hadith again and it had made me sad and a bit angry tbh.
Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) said: “The one who severs the ties with the relatives will not be among the first to enter Paradise. Rather, this person will enter it after being tortured in Hellfire (i.e., if one dies as a Muslim).” (Al-Bukhari)
“There is no sin more deserving that Allah hasten the punishment in this world, in addition to what is stored up for him in the Hereafter – than injustice and severing the ties of kinship.” [Sunan Ibn Majah]
From what i read about this keeping the ties of kinship increases your rizq, age, and brings a lot of benefits in dunya and akhirah, but not keeping it,brings the opposite in the dunya and makes you one of the people of hellfire.
It doesnt seem fair to me,astagfirullah.I mean after everything i am sacrificing for islam,im not saying i deserve jannah, ofc i dont, but to go to hellfire for this reason?
Its ''not my fault'' that my family and relatives despise muslims. My aunt has even done us magic,i have seen the actual sihr in my house, sihr itself right next to my bed,but i didnt do anything to it as i wasnt ready. Now that im ready i searched for it when i went back to my home country but i couldnt find it.So these are the type of people i have in my kinship, either arrogant who only want to brag at you with their wealth to feel superior and feed their ego,or envy people who would do hassed on you and deal with small witchcraft. To sum up,super toxic people who would not only benefit me,but on the contrary it was extremely overwhelming becoming muslim among them. One thing that has amazed me,is that when i was fasting ramadan in secret, they would bring sweets and food to my house and would do everything to make me try it,which happens solely on ramadan,as if the shaytan himself had guided them, but elhamdulillah i have endured all the hardships. And now i have migrated to improve my religion and my relationship with Allah, everything has changed and is great elhamdulillah,my taqwa is soaring ma shaa Allah.
But when i connect with these people,my energy is drained,my iman drops rapidly,my self esteem suffers, everything gets worst. I dont want to hear about them nor have anything that links me to my past life.Yet if i were to go back for a visit and see them on the street,or if theyd call me,like my aunt did, then id answer and talk normally despite all this.
From what i read on internet i should call them time to time,or else it would be considered as severing the relationship? But we never called each other before in the first place,we only meet on events or when we visit each others houses,so im actually just keeping the status quo.
Anyway my question is,does anybody know when was this hadith said? and what does it mean with 'severing the ties of kinship' in arabic? and does it include your kin whoever they might be?Because to me,astagfirullah but it makes no sense to be punished for not being the first to call these kind of people.
i just remembered that prophet Abraham saws had a similar case,he migrated and left his father no? So maybe for those in my case we are a bit 'justified'?
