How do I know which is the correct Islam? How do I know if I am on the correct path? So many different paths claim to be the truth?
I was brought up Gulenist, but began questioning it from an early age, but to be fair, much of had to do with my atheist tendencies and my being hooked on porn and trying to date women in the movement, then I was kicked out of youth activities at a young age before 17/25 events and later became a salafi, then i became a nurcu, then i became a gulenist again, then i switched back and forth between sufism, nurculuk, salafism, deobandi, etc. right now im considering leaving gulenism again, but all my friends are in gulenism, but considering all the emotional abuse i went through because of them, and some of the thing i question, im out. but even if i left id still be able to keep my friends in gulen cemaat, but if i left and became salafi, they, being liberal, might consider be strange.what do you mean? which "other paths" are you referring to?
Well the straight path is following the Quran and Sunnah. If you see yourself following them the way they are, liking what Allah likes and disliking what Allah dislikes, and obeying and accepting what Allah and his messenger has commanded, even if you dont agree or dont like any of these, then theres a lot of chance you are in the straight path. How do I know which is the correct Islam? How do I know if I am on the correct path? So many different paths claim to be the truth?
he means that there are many groups trying to be the rightly guided.what do you mean? which "other paths" are you referring to?
Brother, if you have any doubts in path you're following or any other, just simply ask Allah to guide you and Allah will guide you!
The best way is to do salaat or just sajda asking Him this. Then you'll know.
When you get there inshaAllah, then make dua from Surah 3 (Ali Imran), ayaat 16

STAY AWAY FROM GROUPS !
I tend to be more salafi, and i like salafi a lot as they are very strong against innovations and tend to be conservative than others. But i never call myself salafi.Dont call yourself by any name rather than muslim, muslim sunni, and dont follow groups but follow the Quran and the Sunnah.Follow the most respected scholars. How are you following a group named from a guy who doesnt even have a beard? The prophet saws advices us to trim the moustache and leave the beards, but this guy trims the beard and leave the moustache.I mean if you are going against the teachings of the prophet for smth so little, imagine for other things.Stay away please, and stay away from those friends.Say salam alaikum and if you see them greet them,as in islam we shouldnt cut ties, but stay away from being a group with them. You will lose from the straight path if you stay with them.
It was narrated from Mu’aawiyah ibn Abi Sufyaan (may Allaah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood among us and said: “Those who came before you of the people of the Book split into seventy-two sects, and this ummah will split into seventy-three: seventy-two in Hell and one in Paradise, and that is the jamaa’ah (main body of Muslims).”

Yet , Salafi is another group !
Advise: Stay away from groups...
*joins Salafi group*
Advise: follow the most respected scholars
*thinks that the most respected scholars like Hanafi, Shafi, Hanbali, Maliki are not good enough*
Thanks for making my post less credible.Next time please read my message and try to understand.I will write it many times again,i hope you can understand it or at least read it.

I think i already said that i dont call myself salafi,so how did i join the salafi according to you?
And where did i say scholars like Hanafi Shafi etc are not good enough? I didnt mention any of them. For every case i get the opinions of all madhabs and follow the one my heart feels its right.Let me tell you again that i dont associate myself with any group before you make me *join another group*
Forgive me if I have hurt your feelings:Emoji1: . I just tried to point out that even Slalafi is another human-created sect/group in Islam like any others . Hence all of them should be equally abandoned . ALLAH swt staunchly instructed in Qur'an not to divide Islam into sects and be called 'Muslim' , without designating it to any sect ( Salafi Muslim , Hanafi Muslim etc.) .
how can i forgive you for this???? lool dw,you dont even have to apologise.I am not angry or sad or whatever.I was just very annoyed cuz i just woke up and i read that lol.But i shouldnt have replied like that so i apologise too.
Yes ofc,we need madhabs to understand the religion better. We need scholars to explain it to us,but sticking blindly to a madhab or joining into groups thats not what Allah and the prophet saws told us to do.Muslims should be all one.
I do the same thing as well, most serious Muslims who follow Quran and Sunnah tend to be just like the salafis in many ways. I don't call myself a salafi though because I'd rather just call myself Muslim rather than splitting. And I will always research my information rather than automatically following an opinion just because a salafi scholar follows it
