What do you think about Shia Islam? Do you consider them as Muslims? Some Sunni Muslims didn't consider them as Muslims. What's reason behind this

What do you think about Shia Islam? Do you consider them as Muslims? Some Sunni Muslims didn't consider them as Muslims. What's reason behind this

The Shias are very different from the mainstream of Islam. The most striking difference between the shias and the sunnis is the shias interpret Quran totally different. I'll give you an example. If sunnis take 'east' from a verse, shias will take 'west' from the same verse. I'm not saying here that sunnis are right and shias are wrong. I'm just trying to say how different they are. And it means that both schools of thought saying that they believe in Quran doesn't hold any importance, as due to different 'interpretation' they are in fact believing in different Qurans.

Second most important difference is shia's belief in infallible imams. According to them their imams are higher in status than the prophets of Allah. In other words if they have 12 imams they have 12 persons who are higher than prophets after Muhammad s.a.w. And if they have such personalities it means their Islam was not made complete by Muahmmad s.a.w and it also means that they are not believing in the finality of the Prophethood at Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. They will give lots of lame justifications and 'interpretations' but do these things change the fact that they have 12 infallible heavenly personalities after Prophet Muhammad s.a.w? Thus their Islam is totally different from the Islam sunnis believe in.

As for takfeer of shias, it's the shias themselves who started takfeer of sahabah (companions of the Prophet s.a.w) and they still do it. Remember that those who do takfeer of believers are the sect of khawarij, so the shias who do takfeer of sahabah are khawarij also.

There are far too many different shia groups to give you one proper answer.
the first shia's were shia's purely for political reasons. They just wanted Ali as to be the first khalifa...thats all. they were just muslims.
nowadays there are shia's who pray to imams instead of Allah, believe in Ali as as a prophet, etc.

If a person rather goes to karbalah for pilgimmage instead of Mecca, or prays to an imam instead of directly to Allah, or something else which goes directly against Islaam...big chance they are not muslim...

But...basic rule for us is, if the person claims that he is a muslim...we are obligated to believe him/her.
It is not on us to decide who is muslim and who isn't.

But I look at this a bit differently. It doesn't matter much what early shias believed in. Whoever they were, they harmed the unity of Islam and divided this ummah. There majority was most probably a bunch of gullible people who were used by the Jews and the Zoroastrians (Persians) for their enmity towards Islam. The Kuffar wanted to decelerate the propagation of Islam which was happening through global Jihad. And it's a reality that this Jihad for the spread of Islam stopped during the 5 years of Ali's rule (r.a). During these 5 years there were loads of conspiracies, rebellions and civil wars.

Personally I consider Muawiyah r.a the best strategist and the best ruler of his time. He defeated these conspirators and devastated their evil designs. 100 years of the Umaiyyad dynasty was an exemplary period when Islam reached the subcontinent and Hispania (Spain).
