Hello everyone,

My name is Janine and I'm a 19 year old media studies student from Gloucester. The brutality I saw in Manchester yesterday was quite horrific and I'm glad the officer was suspended for what he did. I felt an urge to join this forum. I am christian but love all religions and faiths and respect anyone's belief.

Not sure what else to say as I don't want to risk offending anyone.

Peace. Take care.

Janine

Hello Janine,

Welcome to the forum.

It seems the full story behind the event is still unfolding, but it was certainly a disturbing sight. All people should be treated in a fair and just manner. God-willing, something good will come out of this.

Feel free to ask any questions. All the best with your studies!

Thank you Muhammed.

I always hear mixed things about islam. Mostly good but then some bad. Is it true or false that women are not treated equally in Islam? Should I be covering myself up and being modest?

Hello Janine

Is it true or false that women are not treated equally in Islam?
Islam regards men and women as equal from some perspectives, for example, in regard to reward and punishment. God Says (what means): {Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.} [Quran 16:97]

From other perspectives, men and women are treated differently - we could say with equity. This means the different qualities, circumstances and responsibilities of each is recognised so some rules will vary accordingly.

In Islam, both men and women are to observe modesty and dress in a way that is appropriate. There are particular guidelines for this - perhaps this can be discussed in another thread.

HI Mohammad! Hope your are well, I am new in this forum and I don't know much about this forum. However I would like to some the basic Rules and Regulation of Islam, can you please tell me?

Hello Tim,

The Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم informed us that, ‘Islam is to testify that none is worthy of worship but Allaah and that Muhammad is His Messenger; to perform prayers; to pay compulsory charity (Zakah); to observe fasting during the month of Ramadan; and to perform pilgrimage if you can find a way thereto.

These are considered to be the five pillars of Islam. If you have any specific questions then please let us know.

What is the basic needs to convert in the Islam from other Religion? or if someone follows these 5 Pillar's of Islam, Recite Kalma does they converted into Islam?

In the summer this is what I wear. Is it modest enough or should I cover up more?

The link to your attacment was broken or unavailabel to me.
Regarding your question, yes you should atleast cover your head and hair when going out in public. Covering head for women is mentioned in the Quran and Bible.
