How Do I return? Will Allah accept me?

Dear friends

Last October I took my shahada, but I now realise that my heart was not completely in it and I didn't pray. I fell away from Islam. I have come from a very committed Christian background, but I discovered Islam by chance (so to speak!). I never intended to become a Muslim, but felt pressured by friends to make a commitment.

Since last year I have come to a growing realisation that I cannot go back to Christianity because Jesus was not God, and Paul gave us the Christianity we have today - which is not the religion of Jesus. Islam is such a beautiful religion. I want to come back. I know I have to repent and start praying. Is it really that straightforward? If I am sincere will Allah forgive me? Is there a ritual prayer or wudu I would have to perform?

Take the shahada again and make dua for allah to guide you. I'm sure the more knowladagable brothers/sisters can give you better advice.

u had a doubt but u didnt really exit the religion right coz ur heart was always sumwhat in it, i say jus repent and cry 2 ALlah inshaALlah

dont worry brother, read da shahada again and try to pray again.. and in no time you'l b a dovoted muslim.. inshallah.. re-search again and try mixing in with more muslims (practising) than non-muslims bcuz non muslims will juz influence u 2 move away from islam.. bro, since u acccepted islam u will get reward 4 that but u gotta stick wid it

Here is one of the stories from that book :

Important Points Concerning Repentance That We Must Understand.

From the preceding narrations we should derive an appreciation for the greatness of our religon and for the mercy of allah (s.w.t),who is most merciful of the merciful ones.But still,as slaves of Allah (s.w.t),we must do our part;we must take certain steps to deserve forgivness from Allah (s.w.t)

First we must desist from the Sin for which we are guilty.Second,we must sincerely feel regret for having perpetrated that sin,And at the same time we must hasten to ask forgivness from Allah (s.w.t). Third we must make a firm resolve never to return to that Sin. Fourth we must hasten to perform good deeds,for by the permission of Allah (s.w.t),it is alwys the case that good deeds atone for and remove evil deeds.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (a.s) Narrated that he heard the Messenger(s.a.w) of Allah (s.w.t) say :

"Indeed,Iblis (the devil) said to his lord "Azza wa-jall (the possessor of might and majesty), 'by your might and majesty,i will continue to tempt and misguide the children of Adam (a.s) as long as they have souls in them"

Allah (s.w.t) Said :

"Then by my might and majesty,i will continue to forgive them as long as they ask me to forgive them."

Allah swt accepts the reprentance of all his servants so dont worry

You see unlike other religions in Islam we have a simple concept: Final decision criterion rests with Allah alone

So even a very very very very pious man cannot say "i am going to heaven"

why? Simply because he does not know what action of his may displease Allah swt - for all u know it could be his arogance in saying that he knows he is going to heaven.

So in Islam we all try our best and act in the humblest of manners possible TRULY from the heart...

In the end If our intentions were clean then we wont have to worry - but if our intentions were for "worldly benefits" or "fame" etc - then obiviously these actions will be rejected by God.

so insha'allah if you truly feel in your heart sorrow and wish to re-enter Islam then know that Allah swt is most forgiving and most loving.

And this should be a reminder to us all that "every action is judged on intention" :)

There is another story of a man who had NEVER done anything good in his life,so before he died,he told his wife and children to Burn his body,and throw half of the Ash on the land,and the other half in the ocean,so that Allah s.w.t will never be able to Gather his body and will never be able to punish him.

But allah s.w.t,being as great as allah is,..Commanded the land and the sea to gather his ash,then allah s.w.t reconstructed him.

Allah s.w.t asked him " What made you do that? "

He replied "Fear of you,my lord"

Allah s.w.t forgave him.

Bro dont worry allah has mercy and always accepts repentence for those who are sincere. Today masha'allah i was listening to a khutbah and whihc reminded me the ayah Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind): "If you (really) Love allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Quran and the Sunnah), allah will Love you and forgive you of your sins. And allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
( سورة آل عمران , Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #31)

And again i started thinking and i remembered this ayah:

Allah accepts only the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and foolishness and repent soon afterwards; it is they to whom Allah will forgive and Allah is Ever AllKnower, AllWise.
( سورة النساء , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #17)


Again i starteed thinking more back to my way in class and i remembered these ayah's:

.......Truly, allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves (by taking a bath and cleaning and washing thoroughly their private parts, bodies, for their prayers, etc.).
( سورة البقرة , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #222)

And i remembered the hadith " “By Allah, I seek Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him more than 100 times a day.” (Related by al-Bukhari)"

If the prophet was sinless then why did he repent? If the prophet already saw his final destination in Jannah, verily why did he still repent? He repented because he wanted allah's love he wanted to gain allah's love even more.


So dont worry brother if u are sincere and follow the prophet and love allah and gain taqwa and be righteous then surely allah will love you

salam alikom
when i became muslim i had the same problem, i told Allah that i could not be muslim anymore because it was to hard. so i went a day with out being muslim but then i realized that islam is what Allah wants of me so after that i begged Allah to forgive me and never gave up islam sense.

Allah is most forgiving, most merciful as long as u r sincere and Allah knows what lies in man's heart.
InshaAllah, Allah accepts ur Repentance.
Remember to proclaim the Shahada again and be fully convinced.

Paul remember one thing there is no measuring instrument that can measure the love of a mother
Allah love every body more than the sum of love of 70 mothers
Now think Do any mother would like to through her child in fire No
So how could Allah who love us so much could through us in fire and when the person is coming towards him and following his cammands

So don't think he would not accept u never ever think of this

Hadith Qudsi 34:

On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: Allah the Almighty said:

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it.

It was related by at-Tirmidhi (also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal). Its chain of authorities is sound.​

assalaamu alaykum paul,

on a side topic did you know that there was once a bishop called paul who was martyred by the trinitarian christians in the early days of islam for refusing to say God was three and that jesus was just a prophet of God?

this is why the christians sometimes call unitarian christians paulian's after this bishop paul.

Allah forgives anything if you are sincere in your repentence, as you aposticated in your heart it seems then it is better to say shahadah again to be on the safe side and try your best to start praying.

in the mean time, feel free to ask for advice and i am sure people will give it. once i reach my fifty posts i will pm you my hotmail and work email address as i am revert as well and have had a lot of experience dealing with people who's iman (faith) is very new and fragile.

Assalam Alaykum Paul

Welcome back!

Some traditions say it is better to perform wudu/ghusl, pray two rakaat namaaz and ask for forgiveness and inshallah you will be forgiven.

Since you are new, I advice you to think before accepting anything.
