well basically theres two meanings for ''drinking tea'' and ''eating tea'', suficently you can drink obviously by drinking it as you will do with a pop, therefore there's another meaning which is being ''sarcastic'' :p but no the real saying in English is ''drinking tea'' :)

Did you know that some English people call their dinner their tea? So it's perfectly normal to talk about eating your tea. There's also afternoon tea, which involves drinking tea and eating cakes, biscuits or sandwiches.
