Re: reversion help, finally some people to talk to!

Perhaps it is time to tell them the reasons?
How long are you planning to keep your secret? It obviously causes you some concern and stress ...

Peace.
:sl:
I'll tell them when I have actually reverted, or prehaps when I've sorted things out with my parents.

Fair enough!

What are your plans for talking to your parents and getting converted?

Peace.

Well, my Muslim friend said I shouldn't tell them until I've been to my RE teacher's meeting. He also says I could get my RE teacher to help me tell them, and that once I've told my parents, I should go to the classes he goes to on Mondays after school.

Alhamdulilah! My mum's found out! I went to my RE teacher's meeting, and after talking about other things, he asked me whether I would like him to phone my parents. After thinking for a long time, I said that I would want him to. He phoned them up, and when I got home, I asked my mum 'so, have you got any interesting phone calls from Mr Kendrick today?'

Her reaction was suprise mostly. She says that she would not want to stop me from living my life the way I want, but that she doesn't want me to change when I'm so young. Insha'Allaah I will be able to explain to her why I need to say the Shahadah right away.
People seem to be rather amused at the things that I'm not allowed to do, like listening to music or show any of my legs above my knees. I'm not sure, but it's like they're mocking me.

Wa Alaykum Assalaam,

That is really good news that your mother has found out! I am glad that you are making progress and hope that things will settle down soon Insha'Allaah.

People might seem amused but don't let it daunt you from explaining why you do these things and from being firm in following the commands of Allaah. Life is full of tests, and being patient and steadfast is one of them :).

Peace.

How do I tell my parents about things that I'm not allowed to do? They seem to think it's all nonsense. My mum told me that she thought my religion was 'claptrap'.

It might seem strange at first, but once they see you are determined in your way they might understand and change their views. It's usually very difficult at the beginning of a change, but with time things get better Insha'Allaah. Perhaps your parents have misconceptions about Islam, which you can hopefully do a great deal to clarify.

It might also be an idea to bring things in gradually and not overburden yourself :).

I hope that helps,

Peace.

She wasn't angry, she just doesn't care that what she says might cause offense.
:w:
You'll have to toughen up to that, I'm afraid.

People may say offensive things, either out of ignorance or because they want to throw you off track.

It's part of following a faith, I'm afraid.

Peace to you. :)

She seems to dislike Islam, but says she doesn't know anything about it. She said that she doesn't get 'terrorist misconceptions', though.

Re: reversion help, finally some people to talk to!

Mashallah brother - it's great your mum found out. If people say mean things - don't let that deter you. Just explain the reasoning behind why you are doing what you are doing and if they still offend you, just say 'OK, I will accept that your view is different." and just leave it at that. If you argue and show arrogance - they will find you and your reversion even more strange and they might grow to dislike Islam.

If people laugh at the fact that you dont show your legs above your knees, etc, then remind them that they are not focusing on the main belief - people should be more preoccupied with our belief in Allah and the messengers and the message of Islam first, then they can start commenting on other things.
Hope that helps a bit.
Peace

Re: reversion help, finally some people to talk to!

May be its just the school ending and i remember he was also offline when he went in Cornwall. So could be only the shortage of time. He can't be banned for coming to this site because even in school there is internet connection, if at home doesn't have anymore access.

Re: reversion help, finally some people to talk to!
