I was born in George Town, Penang ISland, Malaysia.
The city was opened by Captain Francis Light on 1786.

Pictures:
1) Gurney Drive, George Town
2) Town Hall, George Town
3) Penang Bridge

After posting about my hometown a few posts back. It stirred up some old memories. I looked for some more old pictures online. I found this aerial photograph taken in1992. The town still looked much the same except for a lot of new buildings and roads that were not there when I was growing up. I drew an arrow pointing to the house I grew up in. It was built in the late 1700's. The factory I circled in red was origianly a textile mill built in the early 1800's. During WW2 and the Korean war it was a munitions factory. Later it was owned by my stepfather and Mr. White, they designed the Poly Choke, a device for adjusting shot patterns on a shot gun. Mr. White was the inventor, my step dad was an investor and engineer in the co. he designed the machinery for making the chokes.

yeah most houses are made from mud , it sounds worser than it actullay is , they're proper houses just made from mad bricks!!
and the mountains are'nt hills...LOOL!! ;D;D....they're proper mountains/jibaal,
the ones with the lava and all are called volcanoes right....there are'nt any there alhamdulillah!!!..the shiekh's masjid!!..which shiekh ,the shikehs dn't have specific masjid just for them, but He does have a private library in his house...they use the main masjid for the brothers!!..and that's that big white building in the middle!!..the women's section's on top !!
and the shia are basically everywhere because it's there home land but there are alot of damaaji sunni's alhamdulilah...but alhamdulillah ..they all respect the students of knowledge walhamdulillah....but most of the shia's live far from the actual camp anyways!!

wa alaykum ass salaam

LOL you're so funny Bro.......Not Allllllllll mountains have lava boiling and ready to erupt you know lol. But those mountains that are surrounding Dammaj are not really that high, but they are definitely mountains!! lol

And the Sheikhs Masjid is the big white building in the middle........and yes, Dammaj is mostly made up of Shi'a people, and it's mostly only the Sheikhs camp which is Sunni

Whooops.....I see sis amirah_87 already answered :-[ sorry I didn't see

Indonesia is on a continental-oceanic destructive plate boundary. You can say that destructive plate boundaries go through four phases. There is an oceanic-oceanic phase which produces low-lying islands like the Mariana islands, an early continental-oceanic phase which produces mountains and island chains similar to those of the Andes and the Cascades, a late continental-oceanic phase which produces mountainous islands such as those of south-east Asia, and an early continental-continental phase which forms mountains with a small number of volcanoes, like those in the Mediterranean. When the two continents fuse a mountain range like the Himalayas forms, halting most of the convergent movement.

It's hard to see beautiful 'kampung' in Penang. Indonesian should be proud of their kampungs.

yupp...village. In Malaysia, English daily newspaper used the word 'kampung' to describe a Malay/Muslim village.
