I was simply asking the question, why now is this becoming news? chillary putting it out makes sense, as she will need to do some "battle" before ascending to the democratic throne, but are Americans ready for an Islamic-raised President? I know the media at-large is ready, they are foaming at the mouth, but is Joe-six-pack? I doubt it.
as far as issues, He's adamantly anti-life, so I dont have to give it a second thought.
John Randolph, served in Congress from 1799 to 1813. And he was the Republic Party leader during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson. He was defeated for reelection in 1812, but elected in 1814 and 1816, skipped a term, and served from 1819 until his resignation in 1825. Randolph was appointed to the Senate in December 1825, to fill a vacancy and served until 1827. Randolph was elected to the Congress in 1826, chairing the Committee on Ways and Means.
Now why is that significant to this discussion? Randolph was a Muslim. That he was a Muslim became a concern to some when the US had to deal with the Barbary Pirates (Libyia). But Randolph voted to send in the marines -- to Tripoli (and now you know where that line in the Marine Hymn comes from). And Randolph also became a Christian in later life, though not at the time of his election.
I think paranoia can get us to think that any little thing is important when someone is different than ourselves. The question should not be about Barack Obama's past or even his present religion and then have people make inferences for themselves from that. The question should be is Obama a patriot? Will he seek to serve the country if elected? The other questions are moot if we get the right answers to these two.
