Discussion/Questions on Sikhism

Cali dude gave me a quote from the book which the scholars compiled, yet he never explained what the exception to the rule was - so maybe you could clarify who the exception is for?

This was his quote:

Remember to get proof from your scripture, and i think it would be a good idea to find an authentic book also which quotes what Guru Nanak actually said. :) Thanks.

Yes and Guru Amar Das said the same he was third in line of Guru Nanak.

Bhai Nand Lal Goya (1633-1713) was a great scholar of Persian, he was one of the fifty-two poets in the court of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He composed the ''Rehat Maryada'; Code f Conduct!

That wasn't my question bro, i asked what the exception to the rule was. With authentic proofs and a source. :)

Thanks in advance.

Yes, because it shows Guru Nanak was the first to be enlightened. But he is not regarded to be God or anything. - Just used so they don't mention themselves as that would result in being ego. :statisfie

thanks - i've wondered about that for quite awhile.
i know that nobody thinks guru nanak was god any more than people think mohammad was god.

You'd be surprised SL - Some misguided people do. Even some ignorant folks from other religions!:D

The Code Of Conduct give to you by Cali, is the authentic proof this is like the Hadiths for Sikhs.

Rahit Maryada

It is in the traditional form of poetry where the composition is in the form of a dialogue between a Guru and his disciple. Here it is in the form of a dialogue between Bhai Nand Lal Goya and Guru Gobind Singh Ji during which Guru Gobind Singh Ji expounds the rules of conduct laid down for a Gursikh. This discourse took place at Anandpur on 5 December 1695, i.e. before the creation of the Khalsa and is written in Punjabi.

No idea what more you're searching for bro!

Bro, it says:

p) Generally, no Sikh should marry a second wife if the first wife is alive.

Generally means that there is an exception to that rule, what is that exception? Or maybe you could post the conversation so i could check it out to see what it actually says.

Well I think you're grasping at straws...

The only execption is if you've divorced her and (then she will still be alive, unless the hubby killed her, divorces can be unpleasant :p)

Then he can remarry, otherwise his duty is to his living wife with whom he took vows with and vice versa.

I thought you said earlier on that divorce wasn't permitted in sikhism, and that once you're in, you gota go through the 'rough and smooth times' ?

Killings a vice in sikhism.

And i asked for proof for the exceptions, so maybe the conversation that the persian guru had with guru nanak is a source for that? So please could you post it and post its source so i can understand myself. Instead of getting opinions only. :)

. :)

Yes but that was in regard to having more wives. Divorce is permissable. I shall find you all you need to know my dear brother. :thumbs_up

Salaam/peace,

and some badly want to make him a muslim! :D

---haha , that's because some or many Sikhs badly want to claim that Guru went to Macca for hajj that's only for Muslims ............

to any Sikh:

1. what's the minimum age for Sikh women to get married ?

2. what can be the maximum age gap between wife & husband ?

pl. show verses . If there is not any command , then it depends on individuals choices ?

---- thanks for the invitation but i would like to know more about Sikhism rather than having a debate if Guru ji was a Muslim or not .

So , pl. write more about ur religion....how it's a practical religion , how it gives solutions to many problems ? Such as how a young man with seriously sick wife can live a happy life normally, after a war when many men died , what's the solutions for widows etc , etc.

Pl. give me the link for ur holiest book with English translation. thanks.
