Iraq sect attack toll rises
The death toll in a series of suicide attacks on Tuesday in northern Iraq has risen to more than 400.

Some reports on Thursday suggested the the number of dead could be as high as 500, with at least 300 people injured, in what appeared to be an attack on Iraq's Yazidi sect.
......................
The blasts took place on Tuesday, when suicide bombers blew up four lorries laden with explosives in villages west of Mosul.

Qataniyah and Adnaniyah are inhabited by the ancient Yazidi religious sect.

Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher Garver, US military spokesman, said: "We're looking at al-Qaeda as the prime suspect."

The US has condemned the bombings as "barbaric attacks on innocent civilians".

'It was horrible'

Jalal Mohammed, an Iraqi army captain who arrived at the village of Qataniyah with his unit after the explosion, said: "Everything was destroyed. Houses, buildings, shops. It was horrible. There was a huge number of casualties bleeding all over the place. There were pieces of flesh everywhere."

Whole families were wiped out in the attacks.

This is a very sad story. Yet, it is a common story in any land that is poverty stricken and war torn. People living in constant fear and with no security of what can happen seek to take matters into their own hands and strike out at anything or anybody that they perceive as a possible cause for their hardships.

It happened hear in the USA in the last days of the civil war. the south was devastated and in Ruins, the Northern troops were taking control of the law. The carpet baggers were coming south to reap the advantages of cheap labor, low cost land etc.

Gangs such as the James gang, The Daltons, etc had free reign and because they were were Robin Hood like. Steal from the Rich, give to the poor. The poor supported and hid them, their were many more poor people then rich. Then because law enforcement was scarce Vigilante Gangs became a popular means of enforcing law. there were many lynchings, often with nothing that resembled a trial. We also had the formation of terroristic organizations that gained recrutes because of fear the most infamous being the KKK.

We can not be too shocked at the events in Iraq. We acted in much the same way from the results of our Civil War.

these ppl who were attacked were not Arabs, they were kurds. secondly they were not shias, they were yazidis, who are not even Muslim, and who are a group that stoned a yazidi girl who converted to Islam, the video can be found online, and this is why they have been getting attacked lately......
