I had not noticed that. Now you have me curious.

i dont kno what Mo is but Mu is an arabic prefix which basically refers to someone.

Mujahid (one who fights 4 Allah)
Muazzin (one who calls adhan)
Muttaqoon (those who fear Allah)

etc etc

That I understand, after reading the OP I checked on a few name and Mo does make it logical. Because of pronunciation differences in various English dialects, it really is hard to say which gives the more accurate pronunciation Mo or Mu that makes it understandable as to how some would use Mo instead of Mu.

I believe that at least some of the members using Mo intended it to be Mu.

Some Muslims (mostly arabs) who want to fit in the west, shorten their names so it doesn't sound Muslim.

For example

MO - Mohammad
sal - saleem

During the British occupation.... the British shortened "Mohammad" into "Mohd."

Until today millions of Malaysian Muslims have "Mohd" in their names...

Dr. is prononced doctor
Br. is prononced brother

N.B.
P.S.

do you see where I'm going? (no one owns a language least of all Britons)

there is no conspiracy there, just quicker to write

Many Malaysians studying abroad were complaining that "Mohd" is pronounced as "Mowhed" or "Mohid" or "Mowhd" during graduation ceremony.:hiding:
