correction

if one were to say "I'm pregnant", that would be
حامل

and not

حاملة

:w:
:sl:
I think both are correct for "I am pregnant"
انا حامل
انا حاملة
Ref:
لسان العرب - (ج 11 / ص 174)
وامرأَة حامِل وحاملة على النسب وعلى الفعل الأَزهري امرأَة حامِل وحامِلة إِذا كانت حُبْلى وفي التهذيب إِذا كان في بطنها ولد

That is right

I just meant ,what is the common word for a pregnant?

It is without doubt امرأَة حامِل

If you say امرأَة حامِل it means without doubt for the listener(she is pregnant)

but

حاملة
could have other uses

eg,

امرأة حاملة للمرض
she has hidden disease

امراة حاملة للواء النصر

etc......

امرأَة حامِل وحاملة
though both right but حامِل is the common one in the Arab world ...

notice:
another common word for a pregnant is

حبلى

Thanx for you contribution

I read the thread title, so I just decided to post a query. Forgive me if it's the wrong type of question, but what would the Arabic translation be for the following sentence?

I want to learn Arabic.
