Greetings,
you have made indirect comparisons between alcohol to coffee and asa. either way, I have already responded that they are not the same compound and work on different receptors.

I was talking about stimulants. Nowhere did I mention alcohol, nor did I intend any implied reference to it.

read the long quote written in the previous page, by a Muslim doctor and a scholar.

But it's totally irrelevant to the discussion we're having. :-\

In my professional opinion marijuana shouldn't be used for medicinal purposes.

Fair enough. So do you believe that there are other, better ways of caring for ailments that medicinal marijuana is currently used for in some places?

Peace

all right, I must have imagined the semblances.

actually if you scroll down you'll see that he discusses prohibitions and leeways, that necessity overrides prohibition. I suppose a long post is off putting and it is better to ask and re-ask the same q to get the contracted response.

If it were FDA approved unanimously in all states, I suppose I'd not mind it, but as it so happens, it is shady, and used illicitly, I view it in the exact same light I do cigarettes only Marijuana smoke contains nearly four times as much tar and 50 percent more carcinogens than tobacco, so I don't see really how it is beneficial to someone already with cancer, when there are other alternatives plus appetite enhancers. I'd not recommend someone smoke cigarettes either!

As we all know Khamr(intoxicants) are haram. It says so in surah Maidah verse 90-91. But when does someone actually get intoxicated? Well Hadrat Umar Ibn-AlKhattab( may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Khamr is anything that befogs the mind" This is a clear definition khamr and it should not leave room for doubts. Marijuana does befog the mind and impairs thought. I do have friends that smoke that and they put up a really good arguement that it is Halal. They claim that they are not high after smoking and they can focus better when smoking marijuana. But most of the statistics say otherwise. So because Marijuana does impair thinking, it is considered a khamr and therefore haram
