    Hadeeth of the day (OP)

As salaam alekum ( Peace be upon you)

Hadeeth means the words, actions, approval or attributes that have been narrated from the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

    Narrated Muawiya bin Suwald:

I heard Al-Bara' bin 'Azib saying, "The Prophet (S.A.W) orders us to do seven things and prohibited us from doing seven other things." Then Al-Bara' mentioned the following:--

    (1) To pay a visit to the sick (inquiring about his health),

    (2) to follow funeral processions,

    (3) to say to a sneezer, "May Allah be merciful to you" (if he says, "Praise be to Allah!"),

    (4) to return greetings,

    (5) to help the oppressed,

    (6) to accept invitations,

    (7) to help others to fulfill their oaths.

From Ibn ʿAbbās, that the Prophet ﷺ said:

    Blessings are with your seniors.

Ibn Ḥibbān et al. Graded ṣaḥīh by Al-Albānī and others. See Al-Ṣaḥīḥah no. 1778.

From Ibn ʿUmar, from Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ that he said:

Jibrīl told me to give precedence to those who are older.

Recorded by Abū Bakr Al-Shāfiʿī in Al-Fawāʾid, and graded authentic by Al-Albānī in Al-Ṣaḥīḥah no. 1555.

It is reported that Mālik b. Mighwal said:

I was once walking with Ṭalḥah b. Muṣarrif when we came to a narrow (entrance). He went in front of me, then said, “If I knew that you were older than me even by a day, I would have never preceded you.”

Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“…And a person does not love a nation except that he will raised with them [on the Day of Qiyamah]”

    Re: Hadeeth of the day

Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Al-Khudry (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) once made the following du’a:

‘O Allah I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty.’

Someone enquired: ‘Are these two equal?’

    Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) replied: ‘Yes.’

    (Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith: 1026 – Al-Ihsan)

Refer for all of the above: Al-Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 789 and footnotes of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah on Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 27127.

It should be noted that the above depends on how a person reacts to his situation of poverty.

لقد رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يظل اليوم يلتوي ما يجد دقلا يملأ به بطنه

Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said, “I saw Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) bent over/writhing on his belly [due to extreme hunger], he could not even find inferior quality dates to fill his belly.

    Nabi s.a.w said:

“My nation will be afflicted by the diseases of the former nations.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what are the diseases of the former nations?”
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Excessive amusement/ pride and arrogance, disunity, competition for worldly gain, hatred, and greed until there is transgression followed by war”

(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 168 and Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 9012)

Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic and Hafiz Dhahabi concurs. ‘Allamah ‘Iraqi (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of narrators of Tabarani reliable (jayyid).

Narrated Masruq (May Allah be pleased with him): I asked `Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) “Which deed was most loved by the Prophet (ﷺ)?” She (May Allah be pleased with her) said, “A deed done continuously.” I further asked, “When did he used to get up (in the night for the prayer).” She said, “He used to get up on hearing the crowing of a cock (rooster).”

It is narrated that Sayyiduna Mihjan ibnul Adra’ said: I came with Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and when we were at the door of the Masjid, we saw a man offering Salah. He said: ‘Do you think he is sincere?’ I said: ‘O Prophet of Allah, this is so and so, he is one of the best of the people of Madinah, or one of those who offers the most Salah of the people of Madinah.’ He said: “Do not let him hear you [praising him] lest you be destroy him” – two or three times –. He then said, ‘You are an ummah for whom I want ease.’”

    Re: Hadeeth of the day

'Uqba ibn 'Amir reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, "If someone has three daughters and is patient with them and clothes them from his wealth, they will be a shield against the Fire for him."

“Whoever eats a meal at the expense of a Muslim, then Allah will feed him a like amount of Jahannam. Whoever clothes himself at the expense of a Muslim, then Allah will clothe him with a like amount of Hellfire. Whoever gains a position at the expense of a man and for the sake of showing off, Allah will place him among the show - offs on the Day of Resurrection.”
