Sorry if this is a little long. I have been regestered on this site for sometime, only never posted. So here's a story as to my relationship with the site
Well let me start off by saying Asalaamwalaikum. I initially came here because I was an angry individual and sinning. My grades were slipping and upsetting me. I felt as if Allah had left me. Also I was developing an addiction to porn. But I somehow felt even in my anger towards Allah, that infact He was the only one who could save me.
So with this seemingly supernatural force pushing me inside, I went out to the internet seeking Islamic advice. I used this site as a launchpad to reignite my own faith in Allah. But after searching I found helpful advice towards making repatence, yet no results. So three days later, I was still seeking but sinning nevertheless. And then I feel as if Allah gave me my help.
As I turned off the computer late one night, I was feeling very depressed that I hadnt seen any difference in my situation. I thought to myself, 'I am back to square one, Allah HELP ME!'. I was about to totally give up when I turned on the TV and saw something. It was the Ultimate FIghter. I was very intrigued by it. Right there I made a 180 degree turn in my life. So the very day I continued to pray (even more infact! ) and researching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Thai Kickboxing.
The next week I went to a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school and the instructor told me to to engage with another student who was an advanced white belt and much more physical than me. Right before we began to fight I asked Allah for the strength to help me win. And with virtually no experience I made him tap out. The instructor could not believe me. He said I was showing the skill level of a bluebelt (second level). So with that I truely felt free from Shaitan's shackles for the first time. I like to say that now I have not layed eyes on porn since before watchign the Ultimate Fighter for the first time (Jan 05) and have no intention of doing so.
I have full faith in Allah now. In fact when I pray salaat, I do the same number of nafl as the actual rakaats. Pray for me brothers and sisters that I continue on this path. Thank you all for your help and reading.
mashallah karate kid bless ya also bro if you have commited a sin, dont reveal it in public, because Allah (swt) has covered it for you, so dont reveal it mashallah again big up welcome
hope you have fun & learn loads here
Jaa-Ro-Nee-Mo!!!
"they ask you when will the help of Allah (swt) come! Certainly Allah (Swt) help is always near"
Do you mean the sunnah prayers that we perform after the fard? If so, there is a specific number that we are supposed to perform.
No, I do know about sunnah prayers. Here's an example of what I do: for zuhar after doing 10 rakats ( 4 sunnah, 4 fard, 2 sunnah) I make 5 sets of 2 rakah's of nafl.
masha'Allaah good stuff Remember that when your training, do it for the sake of getting stronger to strengthen the muslim ummah. If you have this intention, you will get rewarded insha'Allaah, and Allaah Almighty will strenghthen you more physically and in faith insha'Allaah.
Also, the extra nafl that you're performing - that's well kool masha'Allaah:
The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said: Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said:
Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him (fardh), and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory (nafl) works so that I shall love him.
When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful servant: he hates death and I hate hurting him.
