alaikum salam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh sister, if you want to learn more about your imam, I will recommend reading the Quran. If you cannot read arabic, I am sure that you can find a book at your local masjid that is translated, from Arabic to English. Hope it help you a little, im not sure if I got your question right, but I tried to understand it.
