    Halaal and Haraam foods (OP)

I thought that it might be useful if we all put some foods (like a list) that are halaal/haraam on here so that we all know init?
please note that some products maybe halaal in some countries but not in others (i.e. in pakistan burger king chicken burger is halaal cus they use halaal meat but in england and american is haraam. so please specify country)

Country: UK and possibly US (most other countries as well)
halaal: Malteasers (nestle), Milkyway magic stars, Milkybar, Trollie Jellie, Walkers crips - all varities (but techincally we shouldnt eat the pork flavour as it is haraam to eat pork even thoug on the crisps its just the flavouring. iv tasted the chicken but it tastes nasty - bleugh) Similarly most crisps are halaal and so its not worth putting down their names.

Haraam: Haribo - this is absolute haram - they use beef gelatine and pork gelatine. even in the cola bottles!!! (the alternative is to get ur jelly sweets from trollie jelly company cus they are basically ' halaal haribo')

    hope this helped

Why? Well I haven't been given any hard proof stating so.

And why I'm not in doubt. Doh, why should I be?

You're right. The burden of proof lies on the one(s) who claimed that it is Haraam. But you should be in doubt, because people have said that it's Haraam so you can't be 100% certain that it's Halaal unless thou art a fool. What say ye?

People can lie. And normally when someone says something is Haraam, solid proof should be given. If not given, I don't ponder either way.

Doesn't it depend on the ingredients? Hypothetically, the tangy cheese flavour may have pork derivatives but the other flavouts don't.

They might be unable to offer the proof but it doesn't make their claim any less true. For instance, if someone loses in a debate it doesn't necessarily mean that they were wrong. It could just mean that they were unable to address some of the points that the opponent gave them. Ok, maybe a poor analogy but I can think of better ones!

    warahmatulahi wabarakatuh.

if you wasnt in doubt then that could only be if you were 100% sure that this flavour is halaal - so either way, the people that say they are haraam are uncertain hence in doubt, and your not 100% certain that they are halaal hence your in doubt too, therefore we shouldn't buy the product unless we have absolute certainty (100% proof) that it is halaal.

    Exclamation Re: Doritos

HALAAL GUIDELINES FOR A MUSLIM DIET

On the authority of Abu Huraira (May Allah be pleased with him) who said, The Messenger of Allah (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said,

"Allah, the Almighty is pure and accepts only that which is pure. Allah has commanded the faithful to do that which he commanded the messengers, and the Almighty has said, 'O` ye Messengers! Eat of the pure things, and do righteous actions'. And Allah the Almighty has said: "O` ye who believe! Eat of the pure things wherewith we have provided you." Then he mentioned (the case of) a man who, having journeyed far, is disheveled and dusty and who spreads out his hands to the sky (saying): O' Lord! -- While his food is unlawful, his drink unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can his supplication be answered!" (Muslim)

Islamic Law has given clear guidance in respect of Halaal (lawful) and Haraam (Unlawful) based on the teachings of the Noble Qur'an and the Sunnah (Teachings of the Holy Prophet Sallallaahu AAlayhi Wasallam).

What is Halaal (permissible) is declared from the Qur'anic injunctions and Muslims are commanded to strictly adhere to these injunctions in all aspects of life.

Almighty Allah Taála says, "People of Imaan! Eat of the pure things (Halaal) that We have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah Taála" (Surah Baqarah 2:172)

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has declared, "Whatever Allah Taála has declared lawful in His Book (Noble Qur'an is lawful, and whatever He has declared unlawful is unlawful, and whatever He remained silent about is forgiven. Then accept those bounties of Allah because Allah does not forget anything".

Understanding of the term Halaal and Haraam

Halaal: Lawful and Permissible / can be used.
Haraam: Unlawful and Impermissible / abstain from it / totally forbidden.

Ingredients to be checked in any product:

    Alcohol or liquor

    Animal gelatine

    Animal Fats or Rennet

If any product has any one of these Three (3) as an ingredient then it will be Haraam/Impermissible to consume or use.

    Special Points should be noted

Pork and pork products are totally forbidden.

As for dairy products like cheese and margarine only microbial (of plant origin) rennet is permissible.

The utensils should be separate for Muslims. There should be no contamination of Halaal and non-Halaal.

Any item marked or stamped with any form of Halaal certification must be verified by Appointed the Muslim theologians, who are well versed with the Islamic requirements regarding Halaal.

As for imported chickens and meat we cannot guarantee their Halaal status as we do not inspect their respective plants and are not familiar of the Halaal procedure.

Consumption of any morsel of Haraam, affects the acceptance of Ibaadat (worship).

The following foods are permissible for Muslims

    Fish

All types of poultry, partridges, pigeons, etc.

Goats, sheep, cattle, camel and all types of buck, buffalo.

    Rabbits

The above must be slaughtered by a Muslim according to Islamic rules, otherwise their meat will be considered Haraam. Fish does not have to be slaughtered. A fish that has died a natural death is not permissible to eat.

    Haraam foods: Unlawful
Haraam foods are those foods which are prohibited by Allah and the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam).

All carnivorous (meat eating) animals and birds, e.g. lions, tigers, vultures, eagles, etc.

Any Halaal animal that has died due to natural causes, killed by some wild animal, by a fall, blow or slaughtered by a non-Muslim.

Flesh that has been sacrificed for some God or Goddess.

    All forms of najasat (impurities).

    Drugs/Intoxicants.

    Donkeys, monkeys, elephants, etc.

Food containing Haraam items to be avoided at all times e.g. fish prepared with wine, etc. cakes, ice-cream containing rum or brandy or any Alcohol or liquor.

Contamination of a Halaal item with non-Halaal will render it non-Halaal/Haraam and unacceptable.

True, but seeing as pork is haraam, then wouldn't pork derivative be haraam too without having to see proof? Aha, you got me there.

I don't think 350z is giving excuses! He's just exploring possibilities. I wish music wasn't haraam but that doesn't mean I wont comply with the rules. Nay, I won't ignore him!

    Salaam,

Then think it's better not to eat the "tangy cheese" flavor until you are 110% sure that it is halaal. Until then I would advise you guys not to eat it. Osman had brought up a very good point. I would say that it's better to be safe than sorry (inshallah), Allah (swt) knows best.
