A pious woman's priority is to seek the pleasure of Allah. She tries acquiring the qualities of a good wife by following the examples of the Prophet(Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) and obeying what is commanded in the Book of Allah. Complete obedience and adherence to the Sunnah of the Prophet(Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) and Quran is the best of a woman's qualities.
Examples:
A woman is married for four reasons: for her wealth, for her fame, for her beauty and for her religion. So marry one for her religion and you will win. [Bukhari & Muslim]
Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allah and to their husbands) and guard in their husband's absence what Allah orders them to guard (e.g. their honor, husbands property, etc) [4:34]
An-Nasaii narrated that the Prophet(Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) was asked "Who are the best of women?" He replied, "The one who pleases him (her husband) if he looks at her, obeys him if he orders (her) and does not subject her honor or money to what he dislikes."
Ibn Hibban narrated that the Prophet(Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, "If a woman prayed five prayers, fasted in Ramadan, protected her honor and obeyed her husband; then she will be told (on the Day of Judgment): enter Paradise from any of its(eight) doors."
Reflect on:
If a woman harms (in any way) her husband, then his wife in Paradise tells her: "Do not harm him, May Allah fight you, he is only staying temporarily with you. Soon he will come to us." [Ahmad & At-Tirmithi]
If a man calls his wife to bed and she refuses till he slept while angry, then the Angels will curse her till the morning. [Muslim]
Allah does not look to the woman who does not appreciate her husband while she cannot stand his departing her. [An-Nasaii].
A woman does not fast while her husband is present without his permission, except in Ramadan. [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]
Any woman who asks her husband for divorce for no reason will not smell the fragrance of Paradise. [Sahih Al-Jamii]
The Prophet(Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, "If I were to order anyone to bow down to other than Allah, I would order the wife to do so for her husband. By the One who owns the soul of Muhammad,if a wife does not fulfill her obligations towards her husband, then she will not have fulfilled her obligations towards Allah." [Ahmad]

Personally one of the best qualities in a wife is the fear that you or your husband may not be of this world tomorrow... this in itself can strengthen the love, bond and appreciation for eachother- you love your husband in every way AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE for you know this may be the last time you get to do so! Subhaan'Allaah! it increases the love tenfold honnest!
To think that Aisha RadiyAllaahuAnha would sit and comb our Beloved's hair Sallallahu `alayhi wa Salaam! just one of the simplest, yet most loving thing we ukhti's can do for our husbands!
and we ALL KNOW husbands are NOT let off lightly when it comes to us sisters! i mean think about it! HOW HARD do our brothers have to try to please us when we women are sooooo hormonal and tempramental lol!
MANY of us are lethal when it comes to Menstruation!!!..... :grumbling Allaah blesses the brothers that can handle more than one of us lol!
Take care ukhtis and remember, NEVER forget that this may be the last day you spend with your husbands, so, Insha'Allaah, make the most of it... Refrain from the arguments, over even the pettiest things, to the best of your ability, for Allaah alone knows when this life shall be over......

yes true, it doesnt matter if the brothers keep talking about our responsibility as long as they are doing theirs properly insha alalh. and if they dont, nothing to stop us from advising them as much as they advise us

Interesting to read the sisters comments...especially the fact that they thing men have it easy...lol...wallahi i can not count the times that me and my friends would be sitting around discussing how many reponsibilites we guys have to towards our wives and say how "unfair it is"...guess its a case of the grass is always greener on the other side
I know its really cliche to say this but the womens role is so important due to the fact that she will be reponsible for the raising of the next generation of this ummah. Take a look at this example of one of Islam's greates scholars and imams, al-imam Ahmed and his mother:
"On those cold wintery nights, his mother - the blessed Mu’minah that she was - would wake long before Fajr to warm the water for her son. Then - again long before Fajr - she would wake him to make Wudu, then she would wrap him in shawls and off through the molten dark alleys of Baghdad they would carefully make their way to the Masjid.
There was no male to escort him (he was an orphan), so Ahmad’s mother would take him that early so that he could get a good seat in the Hadith halaqah after Fajr. Then she would wait for him long after the sun rose to safely escort him back home."

Excellent post! But why does a woman need her husband permission to fast? I mean as muslimah shouldnt we please and obey our creator first?
So what if he says no? Then you cant fast and miss out on those good deeds.
^She doesn't. The permission is only for optional fasts.
newayz.......All this wife's obedience stuff makes a husband and wife relationship sound like a slave and master thing. The truth is a marriage needs two equally cooperative partners to make it successful. Throughout time muslims have stressed a wife's duties to her husband. Even the most illiterate man will be able to tell you about that. But ask him what duties of a husband are and he'll looked stupefied. Some men don't even know they are responsible for the wife's maintenance! They just think it's a cultural thing.
Boths partners responsibilities should be in one imparted as one lesson. Not separately. After all it takes two to tango.
