What if Pakistanis were as serious about Islam as Cricket?

Just a thought, but one brother pointed out what would have been if many Pakistanis were as serious about Islam as they were about Cricket.

Ur right, we r not that serious abt Islam as we r abt cricket.

For eg, "ME", since the ICC world cup started, I have just two things to do on net, check the ICC World Cup thread n check Cricinfo...nothing else.

B4 I'd check many Islamic things n threads on islamic board, now it's low.

good ques.....it's soo annoyin...so many people were mega upset wen Bob Woolmer died...I know this is abit off topic but aint Muslims got better things to be worried about? about the topic.....we could train animals to chuck balls and play cricket.....why dont they use their time in a more productive way...c'mon..we gotta live to die

The difference is that crickets only for a limited span of time, but islaam is for life. It's hard to be 100% commited probably, thats why.

PS: Who's seen chacha cricket? Does he still come to the matches?

I am a Pakistani. I take exception to this thread and this reply. blanket statements do no good whatsoever. I'm Pakistani too. Sorry if I offended you. I was just speaking my mind. I know not every Pakistani is more interested in cricket than Islam, but I'm sure you'll agree that entirely too many take cricket more seriously than Islam.

Agree with noname55, at the end of the day there are Pakistanis that take Islam much more seriously then cricket that doesn't mean they're not allowed to watch it.

For me I watch cricket sometimes mainly at a world cup, if they lose they lose they win they win. While the match is taking place i'll root for Pakistan but when it finishes all go about my business, I wont exactly go on a hunger strike.

when my uncle/dad or friends talk about cricket scores i get confused coz i dnt understand them so they get annoyed with me coz they have to explain all the time

this is doesn't apply only to Pakistanis, but as a Bengali, we're not doing so well either.

I was in bangladesh last summer during the world cup...almost every house had a flag (the country they supported) on their roof. Not only that these people stayed up at night watching these games. sooo much to distract us from Allah.

what is so good about cricket?? it just involves a bat..a ball and some runners....err that sounds kinda boring...its even more boring to watch!!!
