Salaam Alaykum my brothers and sisters.
I have a question for ones especially from the US.I read some news on the net telling that nearly 20 thousand people revert to Islam every year in the US.Does anyone know tat this is true or not?Or can anyone give me a statistics about reverting people in the US.May Allah Taala rewards you all.
I really get happy when I hear someone revert to Islam.
I don't think there are any accurate statistics on this or any of a number of matters related to muslims in the US. Heck, we don't even know how many muslims there are here! Some day 2 million, some say 7 million, Allahu Alem.
There are a few problems in counting muslims in the US:
1. The US Government census doesn't ask about religion. In many countries, when the government counts their people, they ask them their religion. We don't here.
2. Names. Not every muslim has a "muslim" sounding name. When people do surveys, they usually sample the population that has muslim sounding names.
3. Not everyone goes to the mosque. Or, some people go to multiple mosques. So even if every mosque counted all the people who came, it still wouldn't give the correct number.
4. Not everyone converts in a mosque. So even if every mosque recorded how many people converted, it still wouldn't be an accurate number.
I will say that I do see a dozen people or so enter islam that I witness personally.
The point of my post was that even if I did give you an article, the statistics would not be accurate. People throw numbers around about converts all the time, but I've never been able to find an accurate source for them.
Wallahi you guys i wish 7 million people really did convert to islam every year in the us........but i dont think what you read was accurate , yasin
i have two american muslim friends in school and they are better muslims than some of my arab friends .....
Al slam 3leikom ya gma3a
Mashaallah Alhamdulillah
Bro may Allah be pleased with you.
In some cases reverts are luckier to see the beauty of islamic life than muslim-born muslims.Because they know the two way.
Well of course living an islamic life is important.
I think the most important thing for a muslim is having اخلص in his doings-doing things for only gaining Allah swt 's رضا.
I just want to raise a question
How many Muslims leave islam??
We care alot of new reverts but what about weak iman muslims or those weak reverts, who leave islam
Getting figures on that would be pretty difficult. There is still great mistreatment of apostates in many Muslim majority countries, and the fear of being disowned by your own family would probably keep many in the closet about their conversion.

Have you run a double blind study on the mistreatment of apostates and the repudiation by their families or just want to get your two cents down?.

I have posted two news programs here about 20,000 converts a year, it is true, I am not sure how to retrieve it though..
The usual proedure is to click search - advanced search - search by user name (skye..) - type in keywords (converts etc).
Aynway, 20,000 is the most commonly used number for Muslim converts, though if I'm not wrong it includes all converts, Sunnis, Shias, Nation of Islam etc.
and no that doesn't include NOI or shiites.. shiites make up 10% of Muslims anyway.. which is very negligible.. Mosques that keeps tally of converts in the U.S state that 99% are sunni.. the other one percent are surprisingly interested in sufism.. and no I am not going to spend another 38 mins doing another search!
cheers
