صلاة الجنازة funeral prayer

صلاة الجنازةاربع تكبيرات لا ركوع فيها ولا سجود خلف الامام.
ـ يكبر الإمام أربع تكبيرات ثم يسلم ،وأما هديه صلى الله عليه وسلم في التسليم من صلاة الجنازة فروي عنه أنه كان يسلم واحدة . وروي عنه أنه كان يسلم تسليمتين . فروى البيهقي وغيره من حديث المقبري عن أبي هريرة أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى على جنازة فكبر أربعا وسلم تسليمة واحدة
يقرأ بعد التكبيرة الأولى الفاتحة بعد أن يتعوذ ،وبعد التكبيرة الثانية يصلي على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كما يفعل في التشهد ، أي يقول : ( اللهم صلِّ على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما صليت على إبراهيم وعلى آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد ، اللهم بارك على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما باركت على إبراهيم وعلى آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد ) وإن اقتصر على قوله : ( اللهم صلِّ على محمد ) فإنه يجوز .
ثم بعد التكبيرة الثالثة يدعو للميت بما ورد من أدعية

من ذلك قول :

( اللهم إنه عبدك وابن عبدك وابن أمتك كان يشهد أن لا إله أنت وحدك لا شريك لك وأن محمداً عبدك ورسولك وأنت أعلم به ، اللهم ان كان محسناً فزد في إحسانه ، وإن كان مسيئاً فتجاوز عن سيئاته ، اللهم لا تحرمنا أجره ولا تفتنا بعده ) ويقول في المرأة ( اللهم إنها أمتك وبنت عبدك ، وبنت أمتك ويستمر في الدعاء السابق بصيغة التأنيث
وإن كان يصلي على ذكر وأنثى معاً يغلب الذكر على الأنثى فيقول : إنهما عبداك وأبنا عبديك ، وابنا أمتيك ….. الخ وان كان يصلي على مجموعة من الرجال والنساء فيقول : اللهم أنهم عبيدك وأبناء عبيدك ….الخ ، وإن كانا نساءاً فقط فيقول : اللهم إنهن إماؤك وبنات عبيدك وبنات إمائك كن يشهدن …الخ
عن أبي عبد الرحمن عوف بن مالك - رضى الله عنه - قال: صلي رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - علي جنازة فحفظت من دعائه وهو يقول "اللــهم أغــفر له وارحمـه، وعـافه واعـف عنه، وأكرم نزله، ووسع مدخله، واغسله بالماء والثلج والبرد، ونقه من الخطايا كما نقيت الثوب الأبيض من الدنس، وأبدله داراً خيراً من داره، وأهلاً خيرا من أهله، وزوجاً خيراً من زوجه، وأدخله الجنة، وأعذه من عذاب القبر، ومن عذاب النار" حتى تمنيت أن أكون أنا ذلك الميت.
وإذا كان الميت امرأة يقال: ( اللهم اغفر لها..) إلخ ، وإذا كانت الجنائز اثنتين يقال: ( اللهم اغفر لهما...) إلخ ، وإن كانت الجنائز أكثر من ذلك قال: ( اللهم اغفر لهم..)
، ثم يكبر الرابعة ويدعو لجميع المسلمين أحياء وأمواتاً.
عن أبي هريرة وأبي قتادة وأبي إبراهيم الأشهى عن أبيه- رضى الله عنه - عن رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - أنه صلي علي جنازة فقال "اللهم اغفر لحينا وميتنا، وصغيرنا وكبيرنا، وذكرنا وأُنثانا، وشاهدنا وغائبنا، اللهم من أحييته منا فأحيه علي الإسلام، ومن توفيته منا فتوفه علي الإيمان، اللهم لا تحرمنا أجره ولا تفتنا بعده"رواه الترمذي وأبو داود.


أما الطفل فيقال في الدعاء له: اللهم اجعله ذخرا لوالديه ، وفرطا وشفيعا مجابا ، اللهم أعظم به أجورهما ، وثقل به موازينهما ، وألحقه بصالح سلف المؤمنين ، واجعله في كفالة إبراهيم عليه السلام ، وقه برحمتك عذاب الجحيم،
من فاته بعض التكبير مع الإمام فإنه يُتابع الإمام ، مثلاً : إذا دخل مع الإمام في التكبيرة الثالثة ، فإنه يدعو للميت ثم بعد التكبيرة الرابعة يكبر فيقرأ الفاتحة ثم يكبر فيصلي على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم يُسَلم ، إذا أمكنه ذلك قبل رفع الجنازة ، وإلا سلم مع الإمام ولا شيء عليه

حكم الجهر بالتكبير في صلاة الجنازة
إن الجهر بالتكبير في صلاة الجنازة مستحب بالنسبة للإمام، أما المأموم فلا يطالب بالجهر به، وليكبر بحيث يسمع نفسه، قال في نهاية المحتاج شرح المنهاج: واتفقوا على جهره بالتكبير والسلام: أي الإمام أو المبلغ لا غيرهما نظير ما مر في الصلاة كما هو ظاهر. انتهى

The funeral prayer is performed standing. There is no bowing or prostrating like the Contact Prayers (Salat). Traditionally, the properly covered body of the deceased or the casket is placed in the courtyard or patio of the mosque in front of the congregation. In some cases, the body of the deceased may not be available. The funeral prayer can still be observed and it can be performed in any suitable place. The important thing is to remember God while trying to ease the pain and suffering of the family, relatives and friends of the deceased.

The intention is to offer the funeral prayer Fard Kifiyah(2) of four takbirs .The first takbir one should recite the opening versus.
After the second takbir by the Imam, which is called out without raising the hands, blessings of Allah Almighty, are invoked upon the holy Prophet:


Allahumma sall-i 'ala Muhammad-in wa 'ala al-i Muhammad-in kama allaita wa sallamta wa barakta wa rahimta wa tarahhamta 'ala Ibrahima wa 'ala al-i Ibrahima Innaka Hamid-um-Majid.(3)

"O Allah! Have Mercy on Muhammad and on those related to Muhammad, just as Thou hast mercy and Thou sendeth peace and blessings and hath Compassion on Abraham and on those related to Abraham. Surely Thou art Praiseworthy, the Great!"
After the third takbir one should say
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ ، وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ ، وَأكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ ، وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُ ، وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالبَرَدِ ، وَنَقِّه مِن الخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الأَبْيَضَ مِنَ الدَّنَس ، وَأبدلْهُ دَاراً خَيْراً مِنْ دَارِهِ ، وَأهْلاً خَيراً مِنْ أهْلِهِ ، وَزَوْجَاً خَيْراً مِنْ زَوْجِهِ ، وَأدْخِلهُ الجَنَّةَ ، وَأعِذْهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ القَبْرِ ، وَمنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ » حَتَّى تَمَنَّيتُ أن أكُون أنَا ذَلِكَ الْمَيِّت . رواه مسلم . في هذا الحديث : مشروعية الدعاء للميت ، وجواز الجهر به ولو سمعه من يليه . 935. Abu 'Abdur-Rahman 'Auf bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) offered a funeral prayer and I memorized his supplication. He (PBUH) prayed: "Allahummaghfir lahu, warhamhu, wa 'afihi, wa'fu 'anhu, wa akrim nuzulahu, wa wassi' mudkhalahu, waghsilhu bil-ma'i wath-thalji wal-baradi, wa naqqihi minal-khataya, kama naqqaytath-thawbal-abyada minad-danasi, wa abdilhu daran khairan min darihi, wa ahlan khairan min ahlihi, wa zawjan khairan min zawjihi, wa adkhilhul-Jannata, wa a'idh-hu min 'adhabil-qabri, wa min 'adhabin-nar [if the dead person is a woman, one should change the ending of certain words in this supplication from hu to ha] (O Allah! Forgive him, bestow mercy upon him, pardon him, accord him a noble provision and make his grave spacious, wash him with water, snow and hail, purify him from sins as You have purified the white garment from soiling, give him a better abode in place of his present one, and a better family in exchange of his present one, and a better spouse in place of his present wife; admit him to Jannah and protect from the trial in the grave and punishment in the Hell)." (After hearing this supplication of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), Abu' Abdur-Rahman 'Auf bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I wished I had been that dead man.

after the fourth takbir ,one should pray for the dead andthe living muslims


Allahumm-aghfir li hayyina wa mayyitina


wa shahidina wa gh'ibina wa saghirina wa kabirina


wa zakarina wa unthana

Allahumma man ahyaitahu minna fa-ahyihi 'alal-Islam

wa man tawaffaitahu minna fa-tawaffahu 'alal-Imam

" O Allah! Forgive those of the us who are still living and those who are dead; those of us who are present and those who are absent, and our minors and our elders. O Allah! Let the one whom Thou keepest alive from among us, live his life according to Islam, and let the one Thou causeth to die from among us, die as a believer."

If the deceased is a minor boy, say this prayer
Allahummaj'alhu lana faratan waj'alhu lana ajran wa zukhran waj'alhu lana shafi'an wa mushaffa'a.
" God ! Let this body serve as a means of Thy grant of salvation to us and let him be a repository of our reward and welfare in the eternal world and let him be our successful intercessor".
If the deceased is a minor girl, say this prayer. The meaning of this prayer is identical with the prayer offered for the body.

Allahummaj'alhu lana faratan waj'alhu lana ajran wa zukhran waj'alhu lana shafi'atan wa mushaffa'atan.
" God ! Let this body serve as a means of Thy grant of salvation to us and let him be a repository of our reward and welfare in the eternal world and let him be our successful intercessor".
Ater the final takbir comes the tasleem - giving greetings of salaam, as one does in regular prayer (salaat) to conclude their prayer. One may do so by making tasleem to both the right and left sides, or the right side only, as both have been authentically transmitted.
