    Terrible nightmare

    Report bad ads?

I had the most terrible nightmare last night, and it was so realistic that when I woke up it took me some time to realise that it hadn't happened.

I dreamt that I was talking to a Muslim brother, and asking him questions about Islam. He was answering most helpfully, and I was writing down notes and things to read up on later. Then suddenly he became angry, and told me that I was not a Muslim, never had been and never would be. He grabbed a chain around my neck, and told me I had committed shirk, yanked the chain and broke it, throwing it away. I begged him to explain what I had done, and he refused to tell me. I told him I wanted to say Shahadda again, to prove my faith, and he said it was too late, I'd already apostasised, and could never be clean again.

I woke up absolutely heart broken, and utterly terrified, and only realised that this incident hadn't happened when I'd calmed down. It's now past midnight the following day, and I'm scared to go to sleep, because the nightmare was so intense and heart breaking.

Can anyone offer insight as to what this meant?

    Re: Terrible nightmare

    Assalamu Alaikum Sister Maryam,
Based on teachings from scholars of old the only true dreams are those after Tahajud and before Subh.
Based on your previous thread you are obviously guilt ridden.
Again I recommend to you to perform Salatul Istigharah and set your mind at ease.
As for removing fear recite until calm "Hasbun Allah wa niaman Wakil". Another good practice is to recite the last three Ayat in The Quran before going to sleep.
Do not give in to fears and do not worry Allah S.W.T will never let any believer down.
May Allah Protects us all from ourselves. Amin

    Re: Terrible nightmare

there are three types of dreams
those from our subconscious mind, those from Sahiitan and those that are ro'ya (visions)..
it is obvious that this dream is the working of your subconscious as you're guilt ridden or fearful or committing shirk .. when you have a bad dream, say a3ooth billah min shiitan rajim and don't share it with anyone..

    Re: Terrible nightmare

    Assalamu Alaikum sister Maryam,
I owe you an apology for I just read that you are a new Muslimah, firstly of all Mabrook and welcome to Islam and may Allah S.W.T reward you and keep happy and safe. Secondly those things I wrote must seem like gibberish to you.
Please let me simplify, the prayer I mentioned Salatul Istikhara is a special prayer whereby we ask Allah S.W.T to give us guidance when we have a problem. Usually the answer comes in form of a dream or obvious circumstances.
If you are not familiar with how to pray you could make the request as a Dua (supplication) just before going to sleep, by looking into your close together palms at chest height and ask Allah S.W.T for His mercy and what you should do.
You repeat this as many nights as it takes. Should anything be unclear to you please feel to ask as it would be a privilege to help in any way I can.
May Allah S.W.T make us worthy servants. Amin
    Masalam

"Hasbunallah Wa ni'mal wakeel" means "Allah Alone is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs for us" and we recite this especially when we have no one to help us. Sister, you may recite this as much as you like.

I think this was a typo, I'm sure you meant the last three surats: QS. Ikhlas, QS. Al Falaq, QS. An Naas.
Yes it is sunnah to recite the three surats before you go to sleep.

sister, you may also want to spend some time to memorise and understand QS. Al Baqarah: 255
It is one of the most powerful ayat in the Qur'an as it gives us understanding of Allah SWT.
There are also many ahadeeth that narrate the hasanah of the ayat.

    Re: Terrible nightmare

I'm not sure about what Quran and Islam say about dreams. But, I wouldn't go asking around for meaning of it. But, I would ask about who is creator of dreams, how to protect yourself against evil dreams. I think that dream interpretation is pagan..even though some would argue it is pure psychology.Actually, it is pagan in origin..like in Ancient Greek..."Artemidorus believed that dreams can predict the future." No one can predict the future but Allah.Only Allah knows. It sounds to me like Shaitan and the Jinns playing tricks on you to make you feel like you arent a real muslim...Id ignore and make dua for protection in sleep.

    Re: Terrible nightmare

-It preferably in theses cases to do woudo´´ and recite some dua´ and quran before you go to sleep...it works

-..If you go up in midnight with fear then spit three times on your left saying a´oudo bi allah mina chaitan rajim..
-Anyway don ´worry ,Allah with you ask him to protect you ,talk to him... especially in night if possible inchallah he will answer you and secure you....

    Excuse me for my English
