    A question

    Report bad ads?

    Assalamualikaum,
Im not a new Muslim, Rather a born Muslim. But there is always this one question that keeps my mind confused. Its not like i am confused about deen or something. My parents are very good Muslims Alhamdulilah, That is why i am often afraid to ask them questions related to deen, I don't know how they would take them. So coming to the point, the question is why do we have so many fiqah's and Sects? Each sect abusing the other of being a Kafir? How is such diversity created?Even the Azaan the Shia's Give is different? Isn't Islam the perfect religion? Then why is it the only religion that is treated badly in the whole world? I am very sorry i don't know how to put my thoughts into words, but the above statement is pretty much how i think?

Please forgive me if there is any disrespect. I dont mean any disrespect. Just a question ..

    Re: A question

    Wa'alaikum assalaaam,

We have so many fiqahs and sects because that is the nature of men and the misguidance of the shaytan. The sects are like other religions in the world. They are nothing more than deviance from the truth. We have mainstream orthodox Islam (sunni Islam) and anyone that went away from that to start their own little club became a new sect. Each of these sects are given names and identified so we know who they are and what each one believes in. The prophet (saw) said there will be 71 sects from the Jews, 72 from the Christians and 73 from Islam and only 1 will enter paradise. When asked which one, he said one that is on his sunnah and the Quran. So it is clear to us that those who stick to the Quran and the Sunnah are inshallah the victorious group. Anyone who abandons it and starts their own little group have gone astray.

As for the religion being treated bad, that is the nature of those who are misguided. They hate it that we have the truth and guidance and rather than accept the truth themselves, they attack it and hate it. It was the same whenever previous Prophets came. The prophets and their followers had the truth and their enemies hated that and turned against them, today is no different. There will always be friends of shaytan and enemies of Islam. They plan and Allah plans, and Allah the best of Planners. In the end Islam will be victorious.

    Re: A question

as-salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu, I just had a few observations, when you mentioned "fiqahs" did you mean "firqahs" as in sects? or "fikr" as in ideologies? I responded to a similiar doubt in another thread perhaps you can read through it insha Allah, you may find benefit in it.

I have asked this same question especially as I'm a recent revert. The only answer that makes sense to me: Overall, the different sects agree on the Qur'an. They disagree on Sunna and Hadith, their validity, and their implementation. Maybe the answer to the separation between the different groups is for everyone to go back to the Quran and refrain from putting other books and hadith on its level.

[The Quran 31:6] Among the people, there are those who uphold baseless Hadith, and thus divert others from the path of GOD without knowledge, and take it in vain. These have incurred a shameful retribution.

[The Quran 6:114] Shall I seek other than GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed? Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt.

[The Quran 45:6] These are GOD's revelations that we recite to you truthfully. In which Hadith other than GOD and His revelations do they believe?

    Re: A question

We don't have many sects 90% of Muslims are Sunni - Shiites are a 10% and all said sects exist amongst them only Shia by the very definition means faction - anyone who reads the Quran alone will be guided as we're forbidden repeatedly from division and sectarianism - such questions should be directed to Shiites on their sites if you are interested in their reason. Allah is with the majority and I disagree with the premise itself of niggling over trifles of a marginal 10%

    Re: A question

Asssalamu alaikum! I think there are some very small sects, but that is due to misguidance and Shaytan (As Islamica stated earlier). This DIVISION is what happened to the Christians (Catholic, Protestant, Mormon, Baptist, Pentecostal, etc., etc). Muslims should not have this problem, as the Quran is our guidance. It is very direct: no mystery or hidden messages to misinterpret.

Funny, just yesterday, someone asked me, "So, who do you follow?" I was rather surprised at the question, laughed and replied, "I follow Allah SWT! I don't need a middle man or alternate route to get to God!"

    Re: A question

    Salaam to all

I am sure all the explanations above goes a long way to give explanations and reasons for the many 'sects' in Islam. I just read the story of the first 4 Caliphs in the "Learn About Islam" Forum under "Islamic History and Biographies" thread and found the stories within them, especially the under latter Caliphs, how the seeds of disunity were sowed and if not sowed directly, how the differing backgrounds of people made the spiritual harmony within Islam nearly an impossible long term feat (not sure of it being the best word here). Do read it FatimaSumayia. I will read the the links sent by Insaanah, too.
