    Re: Performing prayer

    Salaams,

    Arabic. No other way..

But please do not stress! Learn it slowly. G

To begin with (I'm assuming you are learning) the essential recitations will be the :

Niyat (which fard and the rakaat)
    Allahu akhbar with every movement
    Al Fatihah
Tahiyyat ( on the second and final rakaat)
and the Salaam to the right, at the end (final rakaat).

All other recitations are not compulsory but can be added as you get better.

    Peace

    Re: Performing prayer

    Assalaamu Alaykum,

Are you referring to the Salat that Muslims perform 5 times a day, or du'a - personal supplications to Allaah ?

The salat but how is it done in a personal prayer?

Personal supplication or 'dua' would be different from 'solat', which are both 'prayer' in English. If it is dua you are referring to, then it can be done in any language. I have heard that it ought to be uttered by the mouth and not just as thoughts in the heart or mind.

    Peace
