    Questions need answering

Although I recently reverted to Islam alhamdullilah, and what I do know is enough to convince me that islam is the right path, I still have some unanswered questions. I grew up in an atheist family and atheist community and I would even argue an atheist country (the uk), although some would debate it is still a Christian country. So all I know is the western perspective on pretty much everything really. Although I am married to an Arab, and have learned an immense amount about the arab culture and traditions and plenty of history of the Sahabiyat, and other things to do with Islamic history, there are many holes in my knowledge. I would appreciate the names of any books that one might recommend as being beneficial. What is the Islamic stance on Jesus(pbuh), how did he die? I've been told he didn't die on the cross as Christians believe, then what is the history surrounding this? With regard's to Noah's Ark, I understand the story but what puzzles me is how was it possible for Noah to collect an animal of every type and two of each? Things like ostriches, elephants giraffes etc etc, please correct me if I am wrong but I would not have imagined an animal of every kind to exist at that time, and/or, since this happened in Turkey, would there have been animals of all types existing there at that time? Or is this story a metaphorical one in that it isn't meant to be taken too literally? As with many of the stories of the prophets, are they mostly metaphorical and not to be taken too literally? On another subject, what is the Islamic stance on dinosaurs? The western stance is that they existed, and they claim to have fossils to prove it.So what do we say about this? With regards to Adam and Eve, can one explain this to me how it all began? So for example, Adam and Eve gave birth to a child, was this Ibrahim? And then how did Ibrahim have children? Were they the only 3 humans in existence at this time? With regards to women and praying, I often wonder why is it that women have to cover their hair and body completely when we pray? For example, if one is at home alone, why must we cover to pray to Allah? Is there anything in the Hadith or Quran which gives a reasoning for this? Because I know that Allah is neither male or female, therefore it makes me wonder why do I need to cover my hair (if i'm at home alone) when I pray? When I visit in laws in the Arab country my husband originates from, I find it unbearably hot to put on my veil and abayah in order to pray in a room, alone, where NO male is able to see me. I make it impossible for anyone to see me, if necessary, unless it is myself and other females only. This is where I am confused. I am happy to do this obviously, if this is Allah's will, but I can't help but be curious as to the logic of it. Please, I respect other people's opinions immeasurably, but, in this instance I would sincerely appreciate more responses from very kynowledgeable individuals who can provide me with the answers and ideally references/sources of information inshallah. Jazakallahirun.

    Re: Questions need answering

    Salaam and peace to you.

There are lots of questions there and it won't all be answered in one go. Some won't probably be answered as there are available sources that will give better answers.

Just know that all your questions will be answered in due time, in syaa Allah, if you pursue and research them.

Islam does not talk about history irrelevant to us as human and our relationship to our maker. Hence dinosaurs etc is not relevant. Its existence does nothing to solidify or deny the faith. The existence of dinosaur fossils proved that the world was not created in 7 days, but 7 'periods' as defined by some translations of the Qur'an.

I recommend you find books on the 25 prophets, peace be to them all and read and re read them. This will give you a very good understanding of the messages sent by Allah over the time of human civilisation. You will find he message a very simple one indeed.

Allah works in miraculous ways, if it is written in the Qur'an, then it would be true, not metaphorical. If Allah command for a deed to be done, He would surely assist to make the situation 'compliant' for example for prophet Noah (pbuh) to gather the pairs of animals.

Jesus was never killed at the cross, but was brought up to the heavens to be sent down again at the ends of times to kill the Dajjal where he will live out his life and die like every living being must.

    Peace

Allah laid down the purpose as well:

We relate to you, [O Muhammad], the best of stories in what We have revealed to you of this Qur'an although you were, before it, among the unaware. Surat Yusuf (12), Verse 3

There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding. Never was the Qur'an a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and guidance and mercy for a people who believe.
    Surat Yusuf (12), Verse 111

    Smile Re: Questions need answering

Congratulation for embracing Islam, May Allah reward you the paradise.

Muslims should believe in all prophets and messengers of Allah, the Jesus is one of them, he didn't die till now, Allah raised them to the heavens, and with approach of the day of Judgment , he will be down again to the earth and break the cross, kill the pigs and follow the religion of Islam.

As for your question about "Noah" peace be upon them; at first, this query is said due to ignorance, and we ask Allah to give you the right belief without any suspicion that raised by atheists and disbelievers.
Following thousands of suspicions against Islam is more dangerous on the heart and belief, generally; we should trust all unseen issues mentioned in our religion without working our mind because our brain cannot comprehend or understand all sides of them.
Islamic Scholars think that Noah collect the animals which lived only in his region, the people didn't spread widely in all world because the period between Adam and him is about ten centuries only, the flood happened not in all earth but in certain geographical region around Noah, other animals were far from it.
As for Dinosaurs; Islam doesn't deny or confirm the existence of Dinosaurs; this is subjected to materialistic knowledge.

As for your question in salat, There are nine conditions for prayer, one of them is covering of one's Awrah (any area of that body the must be covered).
The Awrah of a man is the area between belly buttons and his knees, for a woman is her entire body except for her face.
Allah said in Surat 'Al-A'raf, verse 31':
"O children of Adam! Take your adornment to every Masjid"
The issue is not the existence of foreign people or not, the issue is meeting Allah, the creator of the heavens and earth.
How do you meet your boss at work? certainly in a smart look!
