i feel like my faith is becoming weaker. i have been reading about near death experiences and read all about how some muslims went to heaven and saw jesus, ect. but i have doubt that most of them were actually real and not just hallucinations
can someone give me reasons for following islam rather than christianity? is there anything proven, or anything you can share?
As Salaam Alaikum Sister,
From the knowledge that I know, no man has gone to the heavens to talk about it what they've seen aside from that of which has been told to us by Allah (swt). The Day of judgement has yet to come and thus no man or female has been judged to be sent to Jannah or Jahanam. So no it is not real. Also one reason Islam should be followed instead of Christianity or any other religion is that the words that has been written in the Qu'ran, the words passed down to mankind from Allah, has never been changed once for 1400+ years. When you take the different versions of the bible and compare then to each other, you'll notice a trend of changes in a period of time, so basically every some years, the bible would be changed, something would be added to contradict something that was already written that didn't satisfy people of that era. Prophet Isa, also known as Jesus, states in the Bible, Luke 4:8, Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'" Jesus himself states that you are to worship one god and one god only, and that was his reference to Allah (swt). Islam also doesn't say that Jesus was a lie, no in fact he was one of our Prophets as you may know, and he still serves a purpose in the distant future, as the Messiah of this world. In the history of Islam, the fetus was described to mankind through the Quran and how a fetus was created, starting with the male sexual cell and its process before it was even scientifically proven. In Islam, there are chains to names, Prophet Muhammad's peace be upon him, name had a last name and a chain to follow and so did every other Muslim after him and Prophet before him. However, who was Luke? Which family did he belong too? Who was John? What was his family roots?
sis , this has been answered several times . Pl. browse the forum . Insha Allah u will get satisfactory answers. May Allah increases u and us in faith .
to the o.p, use your God given intellect, this isn't a football game.

please brother, do some reasearch on Isra' and Mi'rage (the night journey and ascent), the final Prophet pbuh was made to meet many of his predecessors and was shown many things that are very difficult to comprehend in the earthly dimension, this journey creates an understanding that the limitations of time as we see it is not time as it is beyond the heavens.
many people who had accepted faith prior the time of the Prophet pbuh relating the matter lost their faith but it increased the understanding of those grounded firmly in faith that Allah's ways are way above ours.
the story of the ascent itself reads like something out of the matrix or alice in wonderland or lucy in narnia, there's deep events that we're witnessing but even deeper stuff that would leave us mind-boggled.
scroll to 29m:15s if you will to understand the incredulous response of those able and unable to comprehend the levels of what was unfolding:
and here's a thoughtful fictional portrayal of a similar situation.:
but one has to admit that the cgi killing in "the running man" did confuse a lot of people who didn't know that chi's were being perpetrated on their psyches -Allah knows best.
Stunningly beautiful adhaan from the Dome of the Rock in Masjid ul Aqsa Download (right click and choose "save target/link as").
This is a clear message for mankind in order that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is only One God, and that those of understanding may take heed (14:52)
Indeed Allah knows, and you know not (16: 74, part)
please accept my sincere apologies if i came across as abrupt earlier, just sometimes wonder how impossible it would be for anyone could doubt given all that we're going through.
sister Insaanah's post was full of patience and longsuffering and made me see differently.
have you read the interpretation/translation of the Quran in your own language, and a decent book on the life of the final messenger pbuh?
i woukd have thought it would be easy to see the continuity and truth in the final revealed book from God for a seeker of truth from the previous guidance who would've read the o.t and the four cannonical gospels.
God knows best.

as for the near death experiences. shaitaan is our enemy and he would like to see every last son and daughter of adam in the hellfire. the best way he can do that is through shirk the one sin Allah will not forgive if a person dies upon it. so if he (or one of his allies) appears to the dying person in the form of jesus and convinces a person to die upon christianity khalaas its game over
as for how you know islam is true sister its very logical
everything about our universe points to the fact god is one and islam is the only religion that preaches pure monotheism whereas other religions have a corrupted view on this. read through the quran in a language you understand and inshaallah you will find the answers you seek. Also dont forget to pray for guidance as we cant be without our creators guidance for even a second
asalamu alaikum
